A little update.

Thanks to a heads-up from Mmret who recommended tires23 I gave them a call.

Well, I pulled the trigger on 245/45/18 Blizzak LM60 + 18x8 Sport Edition F11 + TPMS just now for the low price of $2040 all-in.

I'm shocked as I'm a huge Tirerack fan but this beat Tirerack by $2 before the exchange because of shipping and duty. Wow.

The TL is ready to roll (in style) for winter  :skid:

Tirerack would have likely been cheaper....people always forget you get an additional 3% off through Ebates.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Hmm..... I'm going to have to give Tire23 a call. I've always been a fan of TireRack and have bought multiple times through them. I cross the border and it's usually cheaper by at least $200-$300, taking into account gas (I don't take into account our time). We need winters for the new Miata, so we'll see ...

Keep in mind tires23 will do the install too. That's worth 3 percent imo.

Even on 2k it's only $60. Not enough to get me to either drive or take a chance with warranty related hassles.

With a local source things are easy.

Julie, definitely check them out. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I need new winter tires for the TSX as well...I'm thinking of Wintersport M3's. Will definitely give Tires23 a call.  ;)

Yea, but some of these people were saying it was cheaper than TireRack (with shipping).

I'm all for cheaper+Canadian.

Rare yes but why bother taking a chance.

You might get a better deal if you drive down to Buffalo...no idea. I think part of teh diff is UPS charges brokerage.

Personally, given the time / convenience, Tires23 has won out every time.

For me the the price difference had been in the hundreds per set depending on tires.  So it was worth the <1% chance.

I've bought hundreds of tires (or damn close to it) and haven't had a tire related issue yet.  It can't be luck....

I have spent the evening researching old NSXs.  :D

THEN we would indeed become Acura Central. :)

I wouldn't expect tire issues. In this case this place was roughly even or a little cheaper than Tirerack so I'll give them a shot. I've used tire rack a number of times and I have nothing but rave reviews.

I don't really care either way. Just some winters for my family sedan - nothing fun like a road trip to get my Prodrives and Star Specs.

I have spent the evening researching old NSXs.  :D

So are you driving down there to have them installed?  Or was this shipped to your house?

I will either drive to Miss to get them installed or pick them up and bring them home in the MDX. Probably the latter.

Tirerack would ship right to my office where I could store them so it had that going for it.

You forgot about the 3% off, didn't you?  :)

I think the key to a deal with Tirerack is being in a position to drive to the border and pick them up. Much higher freight to Canada,UPS brokerage charges and having to pay duty on "commercial" imports brought in by UPS all conspire to eat up the Tirerack price advantage if you want them shipped here.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Unless you get your new tires installed and dispose of the old set, don't you get slapped with duty when you cross the boarder?

If one was to get a set with wheel & tires from tirerack, do they mount the tires on the rims and balance them before shipping them to you?

I had Hercules on my IS350 for a CTC get together.  Nobody could keep up.

It was either the Hercules...or my driving.    ;D

Yes, they come mounted and road forced balanced... and even with duty, etc., the savings have been significant.

That said, even if it's a little more, I'm buying with Tires23. It was just the hundreds of dollars I couldn't stomach before. Thanks for the tip mmret

Yep. After hours of research, I'm going with Tires23 as well.  I'm getting Conti LX20s installed next week!
