You're thinking of the green one; this was the silver/grey one...Old 305 quadrajet powered 3rd gen, outside of the AC system, which I've repaired twice now, I really haven't done a thing to it outside of my initial resurrection from the dead back in 2015. Put 20K kms on it since then and despite being 40 years old, it runs and drives like new, every time. That's kinda why I am not too upset, this car is long overdue for a repair.

If it was the green one I'd be really pissed because I rebuilt the AC system in that like 2 months ago......

When these wear out, I'll dump the $2k for the almost 35" that she fits now.

Nice choice on the suspension upgrade.  And yes, bigger tires  ;D

This was last night, but took the family out for dessert in the Jag. Might have been the first time having all four of us in it, but it worked decently, both top up and down. I hadn't driven it in probably 2 months, always shocked at just how good this thing feels on the road after not driving it for awhile.

Thanks. It's a great representation of my kid's personalities...Camera comes out; my son hiding (thinks it's funny...it's not) and the girl all smiles needing to be center of attention.

Wrapped up my week off with some car stuff...

Took the 84 Camaro out for a good 45 minute drive, probably the furthest it's driven in at least a couple years. It usually lives up on the lift so it's a big pain in the butt to get down, and that was made worse by all the crap that was piled around the lift. Now, since I had the car out I moved all the stuff (mostly kids toys) to the shed, so hopefully I'll make use of the car more. Mrs. Firm also drove her 96 Firebird for her day's errands, again, with the garage cleaned out, much easier to access it.

As I'd posted about earlier, the AC compressor in the T/A seized up earlier in the week. Years ago I'd cobbled the system together from used parts, and made a few jerry-rig type fixes over the years to keep it going, so it was long overdue and time to spend a bit of $ and do the job right. So, I ordered a new AC compressor + accumulator + orifice tube and one evening I swapped all the parts over in about an hour. After wrestling for hours doing the same job on the LT1 Firebird, working on this old carb'd 305 was an absolute treat, everything done from the top using the most basic tools.

Then, it came to recharging the system. Typically I just use the DIY kits and the cheap low-side hose they come with, but that's really not the right way to do it. So, I invested the $180 at Harbor Freight and bought a vacuum pump and proper gauge set. Watched some videos to learn how to properly use the stuff, and then went through it this morning....Pulled a vacuum on the system, made sure it held vacuum for 30 minutes (leak check), and then was able to properly recharge being able to watch the pressures on both the high and low sides of the systems. Feels good to do the job right, and I was able to get the vent temps down to 55F, which is really good for a 40 year old car and a system that was designed to run on R12 instead of the R134a it's running now.

Speaking of which, 12oz of R134a here at Wal-Mart is $10, and people here buy the stuff like water. R134a isn't available to the public in Canada, so it's 12a which is $25 for an equivalent volume.

Great work.  It's an easier life down in the States.  Effective Ant and other pest killers, herbicides et al, all available over the counter, just like the AC stuff.   Here in Canada, banned.  Our option is to hire a "professional" for $500 who does the same thing one can do themselves for 30 bucks.

Yeah, weed and pest control is much easier. When we first moved there were a lot more 'bugs' in the house than we were used to seeing, mostly spiders. I did some research and bought a bottle of "Wisdom TC' and a pump sprayer for under $100 for both. Sprayed the exterior perimeter of the house in about an hour and dramatically reduced the bugs - back to 'normal' in terms of what we're used to seeing. I spray every 3 months, think I've done it 3 times and now and I am still on my original bottle.

Told my buddy in Ontario about it; he can't get Wisdom TC in Canada (obviously) but was in NY this weekend and apparently it's banned in NY too.

Big deal. We are fortunate instead to have JT with his hour long speeches about nothing on 12 o'clock news.  ;D  I un-muted the TV for a few moments and he was in the middle of trash-talking Polievere about how he (JT) takes care of the middle class families and PP does not want to  :rofl2: You can't beat that!
