Yeah, that looks really nice. Amazing for only $1,200 and sounds like a proper repair that might actually last.

Yeah, 1200 is ridiculously cheap for the amount of labor involved in that work. Looks great!

first "mod" ever on SLK.

did "resonator delete" and put in X pipe in its place.

done by local muffler shop.

why?   ...   i wanted tiny increase in sound.  just tiny bit.  and not expensive enough for wife to notice.  ;)  so it's resonator/x-pipe thing.

sound difference is honestly hard to notice.  slightly rougher/angrier sound at heavy throttle, where as before it was a measured/refined burble.

we shall see if i like it.  if i don't, i still have factory resonator, so i may put that back in... :D

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Finally got the Miata out of the MIL's garage....and the battery is dead, like won't take a good charge.

It's only a year old, left it on overnight with my CTEK, arrived this morning to a fault and barely charged battery.  Put a higher amp charger on it for an hour, still nothing, so boosted and drove it home.  Will try again with the CTEK, but think it's garbage.

Was it a proper miata battery or just a lead acid ?

Taking some charge, I'll see how it starts tomorrow.

Same battery, wouldn't take a charge this year, just returned it.   You don't so much buy CanadianTire batteries, you just rent them for a while.

Seems that way.  But, I do have to go to Saskatoon next week and I think I might take it.  It's not so hot I couldn't use the Sonic and use less gas (and we get paid mileage so come out even further ahead) - but part of me wants to take the nice car, too.  Might be a coin flip.   It'll be the longest drive it's seen in years.  Actually ever.  I don't think it's ever been farther away than maybe Grand Forks ND or possibly Brandon.  Wife still hates the seats and we use the truck for everything then.

Looks great BW.  Screaming deal for $1120.  Like your living back in 2010 in that part of Manitoba.

Certainly helps living in a small town.  His dad started the business so very long ago, and now he's ready to retire and the place is for sale...but he def does good prices.  We'll see how long it last though lol.

Picked up and paid for the rust repairs on the Fusion.

Still a great looking car.

Disk brake looks fresh after 6 months & 13,000 km, mostly stop & go traffic (almost 2 hours a day!)

Love that Chevy Volt, great car for a commute.

FYI that Open Pilot autonomy system is compatible with some trim levels, for those who want the car to drive itself on stop and go traffic ...

No adaptive cruise control on first gen Volt, so it won't be an option. I had it on my MY2019.

Picked up and paid for the rust repairs on the Fusion.

Still a great looking car.

With a V8, exhaust modifications are a must IMO.

That's a popular mod for the SLK, I was looking at doing that for mine. I was also looking at doing headers at the same time, another popular mod for that car. But now I'm just gonna put the thing up for sale in the next week or so. While it was at my mechanic, another customer showed interest in it. So I've reached out to that guy to see if he wants to buy it before I put it up on the market.

I recall an Engine Masters episode where they dyno tested straight pipes against h-pipe and x-pipe installs.  There was a slight increase in hp (1 or 2 hp) with the pipes connected and the general consensus was the exhaust note sounded better with either connection over the straight pipes.

Edit: found the episode.  https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5s8nr8

Quite pleased with this free repair...Green Firebird, stitching for the trim around the rear window in the convertible top had failed and the trim had shrunk and pulled away. I was able to heat it up in the sun and stretch it out, and then sew it back pretty decent with a little coaching from Mrs. Firm. Not perfect, but 'good enough for the girls we date' and it's better than $1500 for a new top.

Celebrated with a top down cruise though the winding tree canopied backroads. FIL is visiting, so he was able to watch the kids while we went for a cruise, felt nice to do something as a couple without the two kiddos in the background  ;D

What!? No pictures of the top down cruise?!  Slacker!!

I, put the summer tires on.  And today...it's snowing...at the end of April. lol  Good thing it's melting but still, snow.

See...looks so much nicer with the factory 18's on it.  But damn are they HEAVY.  Somewhere near 50lbs each IIRC.  15lbs more per wheel than the winter tires.  That's a lot of (un?)sprung weight.  :P

Well, first major (potentially expensive) failure on the CX-5.  The power liftgate is malfunctioning.  Press the button to open it, it lifts about a foot, stops, then goes down a few inches and stops again.  Doesn't work at all after that.  I googled the symptoms, and tried all sorts of 'reset' functions.  From what I can tell, it could be the lift motors (about $750ea, and there's two of them), or the sensors, or the control module.  Either way, all beyond my capability to properly diagnose.  Booked in with the mechanic in two weeks, and I'm not looking forward to the bill.

5 years old now, with 68 000 kms.

Eventually most will fail.  Millions of these things to replace.

However CX-5 appears to be really shite.  Canadian owner
