I've done the wooden wing twice before so this will be a little different.

HVAC blower in the Cayenne doesn't work.  Hadn't driven it in a couple of weeks, had lots of rain and humidity, so hopefully it's just a bit of corrosion on the commutator bars.  Still have to remove it and give it a spin.   I just checked the fuse and it's good.

Had the same on the Equator last year when we got back from 5 weeks in NB

Finally got a new F-150 work truck last month after a 2yr wait.  Had to work late this past Monday evening and someone broke the passenger side mirror.  Came out and all the guts were hanging out.  Was parked on a downtown street, so likely some street urchin gave it a whack.  Took it in this morning to get estimate for replacement and it is over $2k just for the part!  :o  It has blind side and cross traffic sensors, but still... :o

Somebody went around slashing tires at my wife's office downtown parking lot yesterday.  She doesn't drive to work, takes the bus most of the time, but yesterday I picked her up, and saw all the cars with flat tires.  Like, Why?

That sucks! With the RX the 360 cameras in the side mirrors are apparently costly to reset into the correct coverage pattern, let alone the part cost. At least they fold in when parked

It's getting pretty nuts; the replacement cost of all things teckie.  :P

I find the 360 Camera a bit of a stretch.  I need a rear camera with a washer other wise it's fairly useless like on the Tremor and a front facing camera with a washer would be nice.

Interesting article.  In the very long term EVs are going to fix the shortage.

I'm not so sure.

They'll still require wear item replacement. And I have a feeling most EV owners..now or future...won't be wrenching on their cars.

In addition, having mechanics who specialize in EVs might be tough.

This is new this year here:

Get rid of ICE's, transmissions, diffs, driveshafts, exhausts ... that takes care of quite a bit of BS.

Whose really going to take a hit are ICE part manufacturers and "manufacturing" jobs in the rust belt.  It's all down hill for the working he/she.  Sucks.

Volvo threw a low voltage warning. Check shows 12.58 V resting and 14.75 running so alternator ok and at worst battery is 70% but these new cars like their high voltage. Replaced battery with Energizer AGM from Costco. $260 :o Batteries have gotten expensive.

Note the date codes. This thing is now on it's third battery. Seems like it is a little jumpy about voltages though so that probably explains the 4 year replacement cycle. Old battery has "sealed" sticker but cells are obviously accessible, which I did.  ;D   They really don't like people fixing stuff..

A 12.58 standing battery is probably still good on a less electric demanding car. Will see if I can pawn it off to one of my cheapskate buddies.

The last battery I removed from the Cayenne because it was sounding a bit iffy and didn't like really cold days has been effortlessly starting my boat for the last 2 years.

Always surprised when I put the RX on a trickle charger how much time it takes to 'fill up' the battery, even when it get used fairly regularly around town.

But it runs some pump occasionally when it sits there in the garage (to do with the gas tank vapor recovery), and all those nice things like power hatch struts, folding mirrors, self levelling headlights etc all take power

This is wicked. I'd find a Martini one for my dad's Panamera if he were keeping it... my old 911 has a regular "Key".

Interesting. Since the old battery is serviceable I may put on charger and keep it around until it can fill in. If I had Firm's fleet it would be a no brainer.
