Ridgeline has had its airbags replaced under recall. The passenger side twice. Old airbags? Don't trust them.

Licensed the Fusion.  Gonna drive that 3 yr old premium gas out of it...and unfortunately you can't buy ethanol free anywhere locally (maybe in the US still?) so not sure if I fill it and park it in a month from now or leave it empty...which could be worse.  Who cares...at this point...damn...what a feckin' great car.  Plenty of power, all one needs (despite wanting more, because of course), rides fantastic...still looks fresh and amazing...I still love it.  I even gave it a bath at the car wash.

Any issues getting it moving?  Brakes ok?

Here at least Costco's premium and Shell's premium-premium are ethanol free.

Earlier in May, my daily driver completed 6 years since I bought it new and now going into its 7th year.

I added up (actually MS Excel added it up for me since I keep an expense log on all my vehicles) my MAINTENANCE COSTS including HST.
$521.27 or $86.88 per year. Actually that also included my oil change for my 7th year as well, so it would be less than $86.88 per year.

Mobil 1 synthetic (CTC & Walmart), oil filter & sealing ring, air filter, cabin filter, brake fluid and engine antifreeze (Honda/Acura dealer). And the enjoyable time to perform it all so that it is done right.

And all this talk about ICE vehicles being expensive to maintain. Really?  ::)
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

Probably time for 8 new tires though. Speaking of which, they wear a lot faster on full EVs, and brakes rust in place... C/D was about at par for their long term service with their Tesla Model 3 vs a 3-Series Bimmer, not counting the $10-15k "self driving" option that was never made available during their ownership. With EVs you mostly save on gas, not on maintenance costs.

Tires may be fine for many years. If properly garaged they can last. Park outside with sun beating on them? Yeah.

No they don't because they do not use any, but the much higher cost of an EV pays for my gas as in 8 years worth. LOL

I'm EV-friendly but not blind to the cost issues. That's why I replaced my personal PHEV with a gasser - and wrote a paper about it.

New coil packs and plug wires on the wife's truck. Hopefully fix a random misfire. So far, so good.

... and it's a Fusion, not a 1970 Boss 429 - ethanol won't hurt it, unless it's going to sit until it becomes a BaT-worthy unmolested everyday don't-see-them-anymore classic.

Alberta Costco, Shell and Co-op now have ethanol. There is no ethanol free gasoline in Alberta. Prove me wrong.  ;D

If you would have asked me which province is the most susceptible to be pro-ethanol...

How many kms through that period?

Lower mileage than most but if I drove the norm and performed more oil and filter changes, that $86.88 could be upped by maybe 50%, or less than $150.

Tires are fine and parked outside all year. They are not even remotely close to hockey pucks, in fact they are as pliable as the day I bought it.

Point being made is I read all this BS on forums and manufacturer's sites that maintenance is higher on an ICE over an EV, but only for drivetrain related items such as lubes, filters, but nothing else. All other items are identical and trust me, I'd sooner be in a Toyota or Honda than a Tesla for long-term reliability. So this morning, I used a SUMIF in my Excel spreadsheet to find the Maintenance costs.

ethanol content is mandated. for awhile refiners had a work around using overall numbers. all grades. i believe that loophole was closed.

oh and those of you in ont/que you may want to stockpile gasoline if line #5 gets shut down.

My $/km is pretty low on the Elantra. We have done approximately 20k kms on it and spent less than $1500 including purchase price, repairs and maintenance. Its going to need some new tires at the end of the summer though.

Not a maintenance cost but related. $42k to fix a minor fender bender on a Rivian.  :o
