Replaced yet another headlight bulb on the Golf. This time it was the driver's side, so I had to remove 4 torx screws from the wheel fender to access it from behind.
This is the 4th bulb in 5 years. I've changed one in the Highlander early on in that time frame.
Mine’s been good. In 13 years I’ve only replaced the headlight bulbs and a license plate bulb.
But just yesterday I got a bulb warning to Check Front Side Marker Light! Checked it and it was fine. Figured maybe it was on its way out, so bought a new one for 5 bucks and replaced it. Still worked fine and still had the warning on the dash…

Figured I was in for some nightmare FGC electrical glitch, so went on the interwebs to see if anyone else had had the same problem. Of course someone did!

Turns out it’s not a glitch at all. There’s a tiny bulb inside the headlight housing that I didn’t even know existed, and sure enough, it’s burned out. Another $5 peanut bulb and it’s super easy to replace.
