Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

My moms 87 760 with 400k+ kms shakes its head in shame at the chinese crap that Volvo makes today. They are such utterly beautiful cars but man, anyone I know whos bought a newer one, have a few friends with the XC60 and XC90s, and they have been nothing but troubles. Its so sad as the XC90 especially is stunning.

Even with the PRV V6?  Early 760s had the V6 although Volvo may have changed that by 87 with a blown 4?

Got flat bedded this morning. "Critical Charging System Error - see retailer immediately". Also went into a limp mode and said speed limited to 40km/h.

God darn this thing is a lemon - it's been back at the dealer 3-4 times now. Absolute turd, and the Google interface is unacceptable. Mrs. Hire is in the LS460 now, and she might actually just keep it and we share the LS and LC when the LC comes.

Yup. So pretty but oh so flawed. Would not touch any Volvo product. That and CCP connections. Shame really..

With that horrible PRV V6 and everything...sure it smoked a bit and would slightly overheat in the climbs around Kelowna in the summer, but never had to be towed.
Lighten up Francis.....

Was it your Mom that had/has an XC60?  If so, how was/is that experience?
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Lease or purchase?  Remaining time on bumper to bumper?

Yeah, she had that for about 3 years. Not left on the side of the road at any time, but that extended warranty was leaned on a lot of times. Some PCV problems, the diverter valve, turbo and downpipe were all changed during her ownership.

On some of these older Volvos, a PCV failure can cause big problems which I always thought odd.

My last Volvo (V70R) was a frequent visitor to the service department. That, the connection of Geely and the CCP  and Volvo not knowing how to do suspension are the main stumbling blocks I have to ever try another. I would entertain the idea of old RWD stuff though.

That's right.  It was called something else but if it was disconnected one was golden.  I had a 1998 S70.  But it affected all 850s and S70s (same 5 banger).  Volvo good ole days.

Thats a shame, I really like the look of the new Volvos.

I wonder how mmret's is doing. I think he got a Polestar tune as well.

Lease. 1 year left. Might try to just buy it out and flip it. We’ll see when the LC comes; she’s down to drive the LS.

Go give your 16 year old daughter her Jetta back, she's going to be late for homeroom.

LOL... Exactly my first thought when I read this post yesterday  :rofl2:...

I was gonna suggest to get (lease) the young lady a nice Alfa Romeo Giulia, which will probably be just as reliable as the Volvo, but at least it's a beautiful car...

Lol, the Giulia 2.0T is not fun or engaging in any way. I've argued since the day it was released that a fast/close ratio steering rack does not equal "good" steering. I'm not a fan of the lack of feel, and the engine is "meh" at best. Interior quality isn't great and the infotainment is unusable.

Contemplated a Taycan GTS but after spending a week with the press car last summer, we determined it's just too big for her to comfortably pull in and out of the garage.

In his defense, he said 'beautiful car', not 'fun and engaging' :)
