What's really bad (can't believe I'm saying this) is the reverse.  Using FOBs for years and then having to use a key.   :rofl2:

LOL... I have them all in my cars... It keeps me "sharp"... Basic twist key (Outlander), half-baked push start/stop (BMW), full keyless stop/start (GTI)....

I've been spoiled by Lexus smart keys since 06. Even had the credit card one.

Fortunately, my Prime has a similar keyless set up...But no credit card fob, just a normal one.

Yeah, it gets complicated. Our Ford pickups at work have the combo key/fob things, but unlock them with the key and an alarm countdown starts! Caught me off-guard the first time it happened

LS flagship I assume... What setup did you have on the IS from that era?

My lowly 2013 Focus had full proximity lock/unlock on ALL doors (2016 GTI only has it on the front doors) and stop/start push button.

Can you change the programming to unlock all the doors?

I know I did that with my 2015 Golf via the infotainment.  Then again, I have a proper key.

Yes, it locks/unlocks all the doors but only from the front doors (only front door handles have proximity sensors).

The old Focus had proximity sensors on all door handles so you could lock/unlock all doors from any door handle not only front ones.

Nice!... Did you have to stick it into a slot or just keep it in the pocket to lock/unlock and start the car?

Forgot to say that the shine really goes off FOBs when you lose one of those things.  Top line units with Ontario tax can run ya 500 bucks.

Regarding my wife's 2015 Maxima lease; I knew I had a hole in one of my old winter coats, but like a fool I put the FOB into one of the pockets and then proceeded to operate the snowblower at the side of the house.  Knew right off that it had fallen out and I had blown it into the ravine.  Found it in April.  Didn't work, but ran it thru warranty.  Even back then, on a really crappy Nissan FOB, it would have cost close to $400 to replace.

Using apple tags presently.

All phones have NFC these days - I wish more cars had the option to just use your phone as the key.  I think Hyundai might be doing this now, and of course, Tesla does it with the model 3 and Y.

My 09 LS has this. Great to keep in my wallet - never need the keys to access the car.

Had a 2005 Cadillac STS with proximity entry and push button start. Even had electric door poppers so no mechanical bits for the door handle itself. Had to be a very early adopter of that tech.

An unintended bonus is not being able to leave the house without your wallet.

Got flat bedded this morning. "Critical Charging System Error - see retailer immediately". Also went into a limp mode and said speed limited to 40km/h.

God darn this thing is a lemon - it's been back at the dealer 3-4 times now. Absolute turd, and the Google interface is unacceptable. Mrs. Hire is in the LS460 now, and she might actually just keep it and we share the LS and LC when the LC comes.

Can't see the pic, but is it the Volvo wagon again?

Yikes.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

My moms 87 760 with 400k+ kms shakes its head in shame at the chinese crap that Volvo makes today. They are such utterly beautiful cars but man, anyone I know whos bought a newer one, have a few friends with the XC60 and XC90s, and they have been nothing but troubles. Its so sad as the XC90 especially is stunning.
Lighten up Francis.....
