Got both of the Caddies oil sprayed this week, and then washed and waxed them both today - all ready for winter   :'(

Most of the other cars have been stored, just the Sonoma and the Jag still out....Might tuck the Sonoma away tomorrow. Need to burn a bit more gas in it and do an oil change.

Managing that fleet is a full time gig!

Everything's stored here except for the M5. Looks gorgeous out for the next few days so will commute in it and probably park it on Wed/Thurs. The 550 comes home on Wed so I'm hoping to have one last weekend to enjoy it before stashing it.

Seems weird they wouldn't put the correct mileage at the time of replacement, especially if it was a recall.  ???

I changed the oil in the Highlander yesterday.  Every time I do it, about half way through, I am wondering why I just didn't get my shop to do it.

Oh well, it's done. And done right. At 15 years old it's still a baby with 215k km on it.

Swapped in some outer tie rods on the Ridgeline. What is weird is the castle nut slots are above where the cotter pin slots through the bolt. In other words the cotter pin will not prevent the nut from backing off but it will stop the nut from coming completely off.

Been chasing a strange occasional pop sensation in the steering wheel and I seemed to have reduced it but not eliminated it entirely.

sway bar bushings
sway bar links
lower control arms
strut assemblies
outer tie rods (inners were fine)
steering rack seems tight.

Out of ideas and frankly no one notices but me so I'll try to forget about it.

The upside is the Ridge has new knees for the next 200k kms.

I'm not familiar how clusters are set but have seen in owners manuals from the past a spot where if it was changed it was written in the owners manual.
The previous owner was the one that told me about the replaced cluster.   I haven't owned the vehicle from new.
Only you would think that  there was some kind of conspiracy. ;)

It does it's job. Anything that breaks i get fixed. Does not have immaculate paint but has been dipped in a vat of Krown undercoating annually under my ownership. ;D

Sounds like it's probably steering column/shaft related. Escalade had a weird knock in the steering when I got it, replaced the lower steering shaft (easy job), solved the problem.

That is the direction I  am headed in the spring. Now it's personal.  ;D  I doubt anyone else would even notice but for some reason this one is a scratch I have to itch. Either way at 200k kms the Ridgeline needed a front end refresh anyhow. I'll probably rebuild the OE struts I pulled this winter for fun.

Ding! Ding! Ding! we have a winner! If I could give you a big sloppy kiss I would.  ;D

So to summarize I have a strange popping sensation in the steering wheel usually returning to center.

So I replaced in order: (no improvement each time)

1) sway bar bushings (cheap $20).
2) End links ($50)
3) lower control arms (getting expensive)
4) strut assemblies (pricey)

In the end I checked under the dash and retorqued a 10mm and 12mm bolt on the intermediate steering shaft (clamp around splines). 5 minutes of time and zero cost. Bingo!

Pricey lessons lately. ;D

It is riding nicer with the new front end so some of it was not in vain.

Awesome! Yeah, you threw some $ at it to get there, but at least you got a fresh front end out of it, and you have a truck that's likely paid for itself a couple times over at this point, and will likely continue to provide years of low cost payment free service. I'll take that every time over making big payments on a depreciating asset.
