Perfect weather today. Got outside early and finished up a fence repair, and then rubbed cars all day. Gave the Escalade it's spring exterior cleanup; a nice single stage polish including the wheels, all the jambs, etc. Then finished the paint correction work on the SLK.

Put my summer wheels and tires on today, and swapped out the winter mats.

Also put the summers on my friend's new Mini. So quick when you only have to lift the car once per side!

"Summer" oil change on the FozXT.
Hood wouldn't latch so I had to clean that latching mechanism and grease it.
Removed a mouse nest from the engine air filter's air box and installed a new filter.

Went to my preferred Chevrolet dealer this Monday morning:

Yearly ICE oil & filter change, e-motor oil (cooled) electric drive unit fluid replaced, coolant HV battery & motor top-off. passenger side (sway bar) link kit replaced, brake cleaned & lubricated + summer shoes installed.

Ready for the summer!

Noticed there are already 2 recalls for my car. There is something about rear turn signals fogging up (mine don't) for which Toyota is still preparing parts and there is also a new 2020-2022 Toyota stability control software fix that needs to be done on Rav4, Venza and I think some other cars. Reportedly the software upgrade is now ready.

Did a DIY swap back to summer wheels. No unusual wear, so the factory alignment must be good. One of the wheels didn't want to mount back on, tried everything and then noticed a center ring stuck to the hub. Doh!  :-[

I see a timing belt and valve adjust in your future...

I did it at around 110,000km.  Yeah, I was overly cautious.  I don't recall doing a valve adjust.  This was all while the vehicle was being taken to the dealership as it was still under extended warranty.  Now it's been going to an indy who pretty much operates under the "bring it in for an oil change on time and we will worry about the rest".

I asked shop about brake fluid, as it's been a while....he said they checked the ph, all good, don't change it yet.

It is.  My in-laws have been bringing their vehicles to the manager for almost 40 years, across various shops.  He's at a national brand right now.  Prices are reasonable.  I often don't need my car during the day, so they appreciate it that I drop off my car at 8:00 and as long as I get it back by 4:30, I'm good.  So I get my choice of days for most services, if not necessarily time slots.

Got my winter tires swapped on the GLI getting ready to pick up its replacement on Friday.  I have been driving it in sport mode now for the last week in anticipation for the rougher ride of the new vehicle.  I took it for a back road blast after work today to get a real feel for the performance to compare.  What’s great is the new one will have the exact same summer performance tires on so it’s a real good comparison.  Looking forward to making the switch.

Changed the cabin filters in all three daily drivers - there's a YouTube video for eveything! 2014 Accent's had probably never been done in the car's life (see pic  :P), 2012 Ody was the cleanest but swapped anyway. Audi, despite the megabuck services, was apparently never done by the dealership (and they never offered to do it either...).

Changed the ICE's air filter in the e-tron. Good thing one guy had made a YouTube video on the procedure. First, engine cover has to be removed - it snaps on little spheres. Then air inlet and outlet have to be unclamped and detached. Now comes the tricky part: you can't see it, but the two-part air box is screwed together from underneath  :banghead: Garanteed you break something without knowing that detail. The airbox pops out from the same sphere system, then you can unscrew the two halves and snap them apart. I bought an oem filter at Napa - the old one had never been changed from what I could tell from service receipts, and it wasn't very dirty since the ICE has less than 800 hours on it. 20 minute job, vs 30 seconds on the Odyssey and Accent...
