Finally got around to replace the damaged section of the trunk lid wiring harness. It took a couple of hrs and some help from my neighbor friend but got it done. All the trunk lights are working fine and no more warrning lights on the dash every time I start the car.
Good thing I replaced all the wires as most cables were pinched so sooner rather than later would've broke.
The repair kit I used ( VEMO from Rockauto) is really good as the cables are flexible, the ends have proper connectors color coded, so I doubt any cable will brake again for the rest of the car's life.
Still need to do a follow up to wrap the cables with proper wire harness tape rather than electrical tape but this is something for next week once the tape arrives tomorrow.
I also put in the trunk the flat tire kit I assembled since I switched to normal tires and BMW doesn't give you any tools whatsoever. Got a like-new jacking set from a 2010 X3 off eBay, added a portable air compressor, a set of pliers, the Dynaplug kit for plugs plus few more things like gloves, towels, wipes, etc. I hope to never use them, but they are there nicely tacked in the big storage space under the trunk floor.
