Good on you for clearing up monthly payments $$$.  Less bills = better sleep.  In Your area you could probably find a property on a lake with a cabin for good money?

5 years ago, my Aunt bought a non-lakefront log cabin, fully furnished, for $30k.  I suspect they have gone up in price quite a bit since then.

I'm AM kinda sad, though.  This IS my dream truck, in my dream spec.  I just had to ask myself, is it worth paying as much as I am just to see it sit in the driveway most of the time?  After much consideration, the answer is 'No'.

Thinking this is probably peak price for gas trucks.

Thinking it won't take long before either you'll be able to get a truck that gets twice the mileage for the same price, or a used gasser for a fraction

Still can't get over you got to drive a new Tundra for years and actually made money

I don't think that's the case after tax...still good call to sell
I love it when a plan comes together.

Yeah, after freight, fees and tax, I'm not making money, but am pretty close to breaking even.  I just liked to compare the sale price to the pre-tax price I paid, because damn, does that number look good!

Oh, and don't forget the $6500 of fuel I fed the truck over three years and 30 000kms.

Maybe in 3-4 years time Toyota will offer a PHEV truck, and I'll be able to justify daily driving a half ton at that time.

I know that was a rather tough thing to see it go but I think it was a great decision.  Like you said, you can get by with one very good car and make it work until it's advantageous to upgrade to a new dream truck and maybe a new bigger trailer too.  Now with the extra cash you have options.

Well, truck is GONE.   :(  On a happier note I went to the bank and paid off the truck loan in full.  Had a nice hefty sum left over, too.

I put the camper up for sale, as well.  https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1585976116  We'll see if it sells this late in the season.  If not, it should go in the spring.

Finalized the order for Mrs. Hire's new 4-year lease... went with a '22 V90 Cross Country B6. Full jam with the 20" wheels, Bowers & Wilkins, Amber Nappa leather massaging seats, and all of the available packages.

We wanted the Maroon-Brown leather, but unfortunately not available with massage. Factory order, car should be here around Christmas.

Wait, what?! You got rid of the Tundra?! But you love that thing!

What's replacing it?

Right now, nothing.  We don't need two vehicles, that's why the Tundra had to go - I was making large truck payments just so I could admire it sitting in my driveway every day.  The Mazda3 is practical enough to function as our only vehicle for the next few years.  We're going to focus on saving money and paying down our mortgage faster.  The wife wants to upgrade to a bigger house in the next few years, and by selling the truck, I guesstimate we've moved that timeline up a good few years at least.

Or maybe we keep our small house and look at cabins, as Wongpong suggests.  The point is, we have a lot more opportunity and options to do different things now.

I would have thought you could find a really nice old ride for the wife on the cheap and have her drive that
Save a pile of money that way

Agreed!!! But now is the best time to unload a car, especially a truck, if you don't need to buy one.

I thought she was getting an IS500?

If I'm not mistaken, isn't this basically her "dream car" of sorts.  Sounds like a very good vehicle indeed, with all those options and what not it'll likely be one of one in Canada.  Any chance she might want to keep it after the lease is up?  Can't wait to see the show and shine.

Do it!  Pocket that cash and start saving for when the market rebounds back to reality and pick up something different.  I mean it's almost the end of the season anyway, maybe during the winter months something pops up and you will be good for next summer car season.

I'd find having one vehicle a pain, but luckily our second one is basically worth nothing by now

I stopped at Cdn Tire (Sat AM) and lo and behold they had a cancellation - so I got a new set of Motomaster SE tires for $80 ea plus install ($20 each ) ::) :P plus tax plus another tax plus tax on the tax plus tire recycling fee plus more tax...and another "$10 shop fee" (C'mon! FFS) and $497 and change later...first new set of AS tires since new.  Right around 80k km and 9 yrs on the factory tires.

Re GBA's truck loss... :'(
:o :o  I am as shocked as anyone...GBA's Tundra is gone...

Makes me wonder...but then again I NEED a truck and I don't think I can afford a new one they're so damn much money.  Plus no way in hell I get $4500 more than it's "worth".  Grrr...
So...I keep it, and my car is my useless (but paid for) garage art.  Though I did drive it again today so that was nice.

Speaking of Tundras...my BIL's FIL has a 2007 (last year of first gen - old new Ranger size) and he was in a small accident and MPI fixed it - said it still had a value of $25k - plus.  Like what!!!!  For a 2007!?
BIL has a 2008 Tundra...says he'd love a new one...but then he'd have to give up this one and he loves this one.  He's had it since new.  Damn thing is probably worth almost $25k too...and it's just a 2wd.  :P ::)

I'm already shopping for fitted floor mats and a roof rack for the Mazda.

For the floor mats: Huskyliner and Weather tech are the two 'regulars' that jump out at me.  Any others I should be looking at?

What about roof racks?  I'll want to carry at most three bikes or the canoe at any given time.  I'll worry about bike trays later, I'm just looking for the base rack at this time.  Any recommendations?
