The Camaro had a pull to the left under panic braking conditions - I figured it was either a flex line that was restricted inside or a bad caliper (though neither seemed seized), plus the rotors had some pitting from sitting (it did spend 12 years mostly sitting prior to this summer). So I did a complete brake rebuild on the front end...new rotors, wheel bearings (old GM design where the wheel bearings are inside the rotor), calipers, flex lines, pads, hardware, etc. I planned ahead and packed the bearings and installed them into the rotors the night before, and I'd been soaking the connection of the steel line to the flex line in PB Blaster all week as I was really worried about breaking the steel line.
Fortunately, it went smoothly, everything came apart easy, bled easily, and it only took me about 2.5 hours so I was done before the mid-day heat picked up. Nice straight braking now, fresh brakes just feel good.
I've put close to 500km on it in the last 6-weeks or so. That's probably about 5x the amount it's done in the last 12 years....Aside from the brakes, fluids and a good Seafoam treatment, I haven't done anything else. For an old car that's seen 320K Ontario kms, and then spent 12 years laid up, I'd say that's pretty good.
One benefit of the stupid heat/humidity we've had is that the evenings are perfect for top-down cruising, so we've been taking a lot of after-dinner drives with Firm Jr in the Jag.
