This is why I never buy new/newer cars.....I am not about to drive some penalty box because the 'resale is strong'. So just buy the stuff that I like once it's fully depreciated....Some of those Fusions are probably great vehicles for dirt cheap, but 8/10 used sedan shoppers are going to be fixated on spending 2x more on a comparable 4 cylinder Accord/Camry because the internet/their family/neighbor/etc tells them it's more reliable.

My DTS is a good example. I paid $3500 for it 3 years ago....It's given me 3 years and 25,000kms of trouble free driving (would be a lot more if it wasn't for WFH). For that kinda money I don't think there's anything else nicer/more comfortable to drive around in, yet I probably couldn't give it away if I wanted to, and that's fine with me...I knew that going in, I spent/spend very little on it and will keep driving it until it gives me a really good reason not to.

^good looking car... but it's still a Ford at the end of the day  :stick:

At this point you just have to drive it until it dies

Quick look on Autotrader & around here that's about a $6k car with that mileage.

Well that's a regular Fusion...mine's a Sport - for which I found 4 on Auto Trader, one with half as many km for around $12-13k, one with 180k for around $7000 IIRC (minutes ago...and it's gone - my memory that is).  Another one, same as mine with 120k for $9999...exactly the same.  Yeah...keep it 'til it dies.  :'( My nephew wants it...my kid said "$2500!!"  Ashhole.

here's what you are up against... https://www.downtownchrysler.ca/en/inventory/used/vehicle/2011/ford/fusion/leather-sunroof/8632615 from a dealer for 3745

agree to keep it till it dies.

AND that one has lower miles.

Gotta face the music, as much as you love your Fusion, you're encountering one of the downsides of owning a Ford long term - resale.  Those things are going for less money than a 15 year old base model Civic.

Give it to Chaos he'll get you $15K for it!
hah, not likely  ;D
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Yeah, that DTS was an absurdly good deal for how clean it is though, no?

Meh, it was a good deal for the kms (at the time it had 120K on it), and general condition...US vehicle so underbody is really clean. It's also black/black which is desirable as far as big Caddies go. Lots of low km examples around though given that the average age of owners on these was always pretty high...So I am pretty sure one could find a nicely maintained example with reasonable mileage for $4-5K without much effort, as long as you're OK with some of the 'old guy' color combos.

Yeah, my car is a helluva deal for a used car if you can find a nice one.  That next gen isn't an actual "Sport" though...it's just got the Sport appearance pkg...it's the 4 banger turbo, probably faster than my car too. LOL  :'(  ;D

Been tinkering with a few things over the last couple weeks.

Burnt a tank of gas in the Firebird, gave it a good wash and wax and installed a dash pad overlay...The dash pads on these are a known issue and self destruct without warning. The original one lasted probably 16-17 years, and I had a collection of 4 good ones I had picked up over the years. In the last 3-4 years I've installed new ones and they've broken within a few months/year each time....So I am down to my last good replacement and don't wanna waste it, lol.
So I found someone in Florida that was making these carpeted overlays. I generally hate this kinda thing, but it beats looking at a smashed dash pad, and it also dramatically cuts down on glare on the windshield which is a nice bonus.

Got the Morgan running...little messing with the points in the distributor and some tinkering with the carb and now it starts and runs great. Still no brake or clutch hydraulics, so that'll be next. Now that it's running we moved it inside and took some of the trim and other pieces off to give them a proper cleaning/polish.

I've also been playing with the Camaro. Burnt a tank and filled it with some fresh gas, probably the first time in 15 years it's had a full tank of fresh stuff. The fuel level sending unit is acting wonky, so I've been diagnosing that trying to avoid having to pull the tank. Today I gave it a nice wash and wax too. No photos cuz it's raining now...

Look great, firm!!  Wish I had storage to store more toys...

Speaking of which, I think I sold my Bimmer today....  Waiting on deposit now.

I'm sitting in the garage looking at it now, feeling a little weird.

:censor:.  Got the deposit... Now it's real.

Picked this up (split with my brother again); 2007 Jaguar XK. Same generation as my XKR, but pre-face lift and with the non-supercharged 4.2L. Wasn't looking for it, but kinda fell into a deal that was too good to pass up, and helped out a friend at the same time. It's been sitting for a year, so it needs a few things...deep clean, fluids all around, brakes, the usual. We gave it a quick wash tonight and just that made it look 10x better...

The car itself is in really good shape, 88,000kms, interior is perfect and the exterior is nearly perfect save for a handful of stone chips. Love the BRG on tan, the car has gobs of presence.

Once it sorted out we will be looking to pass it along to a good home with someone who can enjoy it, so if anyone is interested in a proper V8 GT car PM me.

Sounds like a beauty and another little project to work on and flip to a new owner.

Said good bye to my M3

posted for sale friday night, sold saturday evening.  18 hours was all it took.

rather short time for me to mentally prepare to part.  but then i've been thinking about it for a while.

it's just a car, but i spent good chunk of my time, money, and blood on it.  i spent many a day sitting in the garage, looking at the greenish tinted blue car thinking i made it better than when i got it.

well, i hope the new owner enjoys it more than i did and loves it.

Such a sad state of affairs when BMW used to make something as absolutely gorgeous as this beauty and today, jesus, you couldn't give me one of their cars. I'm sad for ya man, but if you weren't using it, I get it. Hopefully its going to a good home and not some flat brim, instathot thats going to slam it and put the stupid cambered style on it
Lighten up Francis.....

Well...I guess...what's next? Anything?

Hey RR,
Yeah, last 4 years, I put on like 200 km total.
Best part about having it has become looking at it, not driving it.
, And I didn't want to put more resource into something I wasn't driving.

Next, no idea.   I still have SLK that I got on impulse,. Maybe something will catch my fancy next.

Plan though, is to get rid of SLK next and get either Porsche or gt350.

You never know though, might get old Lexus LS or Miata instead.  ;D
