PS... somewhat related:  I love the Recon package shown at Chicago this week.  1.5" lift and 35's on a Rubi.

I love it when you talk redneck!  :-* :rofl2:

There's a website for that...  :rofl2:

I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

yeah, and like others mentioned, you might not get all the money spent on those mods if you don't let them know and have an issue. not necessarily about being able to still be insurable, just whether you have all the upgrades covered.

personally, i don't think me lifting my jeep and putting on bigger tires will increase it's value. maybe a grand more for "real" value, but i know it also decreases the market for the car. so i wouldn't expect more if i made an insurance claim.... makes me think it isn't that big a deal to let them know.

That 100% depends on the lift and tires. You get some chineseum lift off of wish.com and put on a pair of ill fitting Nitto mud grapplers, well, thats a couple of grand off. Now, you put on an AEV, Claytons, BDS or Teraflex lift kit and a proper set of wheels and tires, hell yeah, thats worth actual value.

Man do i see some horrible Jeeps. just had one body lift come in likely 4" up... exhaust was sitting so far down from the body it looked comical.

mine is full fox stuff, so it's alright. nothing over the top though but definitely not wish or even the procomp/rough country type stuff.. thinking tires i'll just go general grabbers... not certain on that though. need a decent daily driver so i don't start hating being on the road!

Youv'e done those Fox on your new Rubi?

PS... somewhat related:  I love the Recon package shown at Chicago this week.  1.5" lift and 35's on a Rubi.

Pretty sure they lied and put on something way bigger.

Is this included in the kit? The door sills of the stock Rubicon 4xe I drove were already at 28 inches from the ground. My wife could barely climb in.

LOL...  I think we're having two different conversations here...

TooScoops' pic was of HIS Rubi that has the Mopar catalog Fox shocks (and yeah, definitely more than 1.5"!), but the new Recon trim that's coming out for '22 has a 1.5" lift, different gearing and 35" rubber (the tires shown in that pic aren't 35s)

yeah, i double checked this am and the parts guys swear the code is the 2". they are saying, "maybe it will settle"... ha!

I used a tape and appears to be over 3" higher than a rubi on my lot. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/realistically-how-high-is-mopar-2-lift.21223/ looks like that is common. as many other said, perhaps its assuming a heavier bumper/winch/giant spare or something to make it sag a bit more.

i really would have been great with a 1.5" to 2" at all.

Yeah it might settle a bit, not sure it'll settle more than half an inch though.  Still it looks good.

I do not see the point of that Jeep. At all. Fail.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

meh, it's done obviously for style, so while i totally don't like it, to each their own in that regard. beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

so my Jeep. the lift is obviously bigger than expected, so now i NEED bigger rubber. but i just don't want to go 37... that's just crazy for a mall crawler that occasionally sees dirt logging roads. think 35 will do the job? turns out they didn't order my rubber the other day when i asked, so at least now iu can change my mind if i want!

The stock "Dana 44"s will not like you. They tend to bend axle tubes because of that idiotic axle disconnect thing with regularity with anything over 35" tires. Personally I would get 35's and take the thing down some rough roads to get the springs to settle, you should lose some height.
Lighten up Francis.....

Finally removed the aftermarket Viper alarm in the S2000 that was jankily put in there by the original selling dealer. Snowman always wanted it gone but just couldn't find the time to have it done. Plus, removing aftermarket remote stuff is always tricky. Our Honda tech at the shop took a couple hours to do it right, but it's reverted back to stock now. It continues its slumber... while I've put 4,000km on the 911 in the last two months, 2,000km on the Vantage, and 1,500 on the M5.

I won't buy a used car with an aftermarket remote start.  I've seen too many hack jobs.

I wish I was closer to you, so I could help put mileage on those cars.  ;D

Maybe he should consider some kind of car club where members can drive a selection of the rides.  Could be a successful business with the head start in inventory you already have.  Of course he has already thought of this and shot that idea down, but would be cool business.

Agreed, I'd stick with 35's too.

In Moab I was speaking with a woman who runs an off-roading company specializing in Jeeps.  She had a fleet of JLs set up really nicely for all sorts of adventure and admitted that even just the sheer weight of the set up once you get to 37s makes the 3.6 work harder to the point where it's especially noticeable at highway speeds.

done and done.

ordered some 35's today. went with the generals. good reviews, and saves me a couple hundred on the set at least vs K02 like i've had on my last ones.

s2000 is looking good. such a first world problem to not have time for all your cars! but at least yours are all in one place, correct? i remember growing up, my dad had about 12 cars, and not more than 2 stored in the same place... very few were the years where every one would get a run. this year, i haven't moved the pacer or the savoy. started the latter, but not the pacer. maybe this weekend.

I... don't. BMW wagon is the wife's, and the Lexus LS is the daily if I don't have a press car, if it's winter, or if it's raining and I don't want to get one of the toys wet/dirty.

It's definitely a cool idea, and while I'm happy to share the keys to my toys with close friends, my car collection is a passion for me and I have no real interest in commercializing it. Plus, insurance would be a nightmare.

Of course, to offset some of the costs, I have recently gotten a few of the cars signed up with a film agency to rent out for static/moving shots in movies/television.

I'm thinking that M5 would be good in a prequel Transporter movie.  Maybe the Porsche in the next Baby Driver movie.
