Tried to start the Miata, battery is pooched.   It was ok yesterday after all day on a charger, but not now.

Crappy Tire wants $160, they have garden tractor batteries with more CCA for $70. :P   Costco doesn't carry them, neither does Wal-mart.

Try East Penn, they might be a bit cheaper.  I wouldn't put a non vented battery in it. Magnacharge battery also sold one for your car. Is there a location near Kingston ?

Yeah, I'm going to check Magnacharge on Monday.   I imagine dealer batteries are crazy money?   Originals used to be Panasonic AGM IIRC

I bet any of the bigger Shorai batteries would work just fine.

They still seem to be about $500 and require hold-down modification.     Looks like it's just more expensive for smaller special batteries.  (requires a vent line hookup as it's in the trunk)

I got some metal tube doors for the jeep... got all set to put them on and....... don't fit.

boooo! I'm sure they'll get me sorted, but quite a pain to remove all my doors and all that and not be able to get these on. seems like whoever designed them messed up some sizing or something. removed the rubber 'bumper' to see if that would get it close enough to latch, but nope. still off by nearly a cm as it hits metal on metal in the frame.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

For the hell of it I put in an old JetSki battery and a couple pieces of 2x4 for spacers.  So far, so good. :light:

After his 2013 Volt was "sort of" t-boned June 16th, shopping replacement (base on the alleged indemnity to receive) from insurance is now officially over.

Today's : New to son's 2015 Volt 228,300 km, one owner, clean Carfax, sure shows some wears at inspection level but nothing major, next step is dealer maintenance (HV battery, transmission & motor oil change)
Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

after sitting in the garage for like a year, bimmer had layer of dust on it.

been bothering me, so i vacuumed, wiped down the interior, rinsed the engine bay after spraying some diluted degreaser to get rid of years of grimes (from the bottom; top side is clean anyway), rinsed the car, and took it around the block...

dang i love the thing.

There should be a law opposite of the street racing one for people who don't drive their car(s).  :P

haha.
i think i finally love the merc after driving it around for 2 years.
bimmers more a garage ornament nowdays.

hood is up for battery tender on the bimmer.

oh, by the way, finally got the rear tires replaced on the merc last month or so.    local trail tire finally got the stock of pirelli pzero ASP(all season plus) in 255/35/18 i needed.  10 bucks more than kal-tire, but it's closer to me, and it's in the same mall as little asian supermarket, so i got it put on there and shopped at the supermarket while waiting.

cost=$670 or so all in

new rears are great.  feels like as much grip as the previous pirelli pzeros summer only tire (would make sense since old ones were 10 years old now).

even though new tires are technically wider, i think the contact patch is probably the same size, as it looks like the new tires taper in more toward contact patch.

side benefit to having new rear tire i think, is that it reduced the wandering over crown of the road when changing lanes or vagueness when changing direction on bumpy road.

thanks to gurgie for confirming this size works!!!.  i'm totally satisfied with this setup.
