Ouch! I just paid $600 for a service for the Lexus, thought that was enough. Got the full inspection as it is new to us, plus a brake fluid change, 4 wheel alignment, cabin filter, oil change.

Looks like it should be nothing but oil changes now for a while
🤣, they saw you come and 5% of that is commission for the SA
Oil change at Lexus IS $99 , at Toyota dealer it is $75
If it was a CPO why would you need a full inspection ?

Took the SS 1LE out on a track for a lapping day last Sunday.

First time doing anything bigger than an AutoX and so I spent the morning learning about track etiquettes. Got some good(for a complete noob) runs in the afternoon. The PDR worked pretty well on picking up performance data.

This is where I also really understand how the Camaro has a lot of hype for its handling. GM really earned it.

Not sure they'd pass Ontario safety....they've gotten rather strict here.

many of my customers have so much money, they just do not care.

Yesterday a guy did not bat an eye at $1700 for a regular service. $900 alone in fluids. Baller.
$900 in fluids? :o
Railton
$900 in tranny fluid for a Range Rover.
Which model, or are they all like that?
Railton
I think it was a Velar? Tranny fluid from the dealer is very expensive.

And I do not get commission, but a bonus of gross.

Jag dealer in Oakville quoted $950 to do the trans fluid/filter on the XKR....Which is a simple ZF 6-speed, shared with a ton of BMWs (3-series) and such. I obviously won't be getting it done there. There's a local transmission shop near me who seems to have a lot of Euro stuff around, they quoted $385, so I'll probably get it done there; though at this point in the season I might just wait till the Spring.

I did the trans fluid and filter on the Vantage this year, bought the OEM-spec fluids online, had it done for $250 or so.

Oil & filter change using Motul synthetic on that car is usually about $200. I cheap out by stocking up on oil (10W60 I believe) online when it's on sale, and I stock up on OEM Aston Martin filters too.

Darn car doesn't ask anything of me other than washes and fluids at the specified intervals.

Worth pointing out, that's a manual trans...simple drain and fill. Could've done it on the lift in your garage in 30 minutes while chilling and enjoying a beer. Most of these modern automatics require the pan dropped, and in the case of the ZF units the filter is built into the pan itself, so the pan get replaced. Then filling it requires a bunch of delicate screwing around, with the engine running. Totally different ball game.

I've done every other fluid in the Jag, even the weird stuff nobody does like the brake fluid and power steering, myself with basic handtools and some patience....but I am not quite willing to touch the trans.

Yeah, manual transmission fluid change is fairly easy, did the 951's a couple of summers ago on the driveway in less than an hour. The SLK will need its done just as preventative maintenance (based on time not mileage), so I'll be getting my indy to do that & probably the rear diff at the same time. Read up on how to do it, fack that for me to try. But I'm thinking thats a job for the spring outta storage.

More than I wanna take on on the driveway. If I had access to a lift or hoist maybe then I would. And if Firm isn't doing his on the Jag, how would you expect me to do it on the SLK? LOL!

You could DIY the diff easily enough, I did the Jag (and my old SLK), drain and fill no problem...Assuming you can get the fill plug out. It's automatic transmissions that sketch me out.....Get the fluid level too high or too low and you're gunna have troubles - and none of the cars we're talking about here have dipsticks for the trans, so you're measuring and/or playing other games to try and get it right.

That’s great! Where’d you go? I thought you lived in Ft. Mac, and that sure doesn’t look like Ft. Mac.

Looks like the Okanagan, but not that track in Osoyoos? Didn’t know there were others. So, where is it? Might have to plan a road trip!

Also just heard they’ve finally started construction on that new track north of Airdrie.

Terrible.  Imagine having to buy an oil pan to change a tranny filter.  Worse is that the darn pan is plastic so vulnerable.  Toyota always had it right.  No filter, just a drain plug and a top filler.

To replace the PCV valve in the TT you have to buy a btw valve cover...no joke.

Toyota's PSD transmissions, as complex as they may be, have gotta be the easiest to service. One drain plug, one fill plug, one levelled car, 4 quarts of WS. Done.

GM 1.4T is the same. And they fail all the time. $400 replacement.
