That's the business model. Low margins on vehicles and soaring costs on infrastructure make it so.  Everyone is doing it.  That's why high end vehicle sales are so profitable ... service.

So the moral of the story folks is "keep your car out of the service area" by purchasing high reliable vehicles and do what service you can on your own.

many of my customers have so much money, they just do not care.

Yesterday a guy did not bat an eye at $1700 for a regular service. $900 alone in fluids. Baller.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

That's two months of mortgage for me!!!  Absolute craziness.  The amount of money thrown around by a LOT of people makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong?

Took the SS 1LE out on a track for a lapping day last Sunday.

First time doing anything bigger than an AutoX and so I spent the morning learning about track etiquettes. Got some good(for a complete noob) runs in the afternoon. The PDR worked pretty well on picking up performance data.

This is where I also really understand how the Camaro has a lot of hype for its handling. GM really earned it.

Agreed! Not sure if I replaced every single fluid in my car that it would add up to even half of that!

Little known fact. Jaguars use distilled 100 year old Whiskey instead of DOT3 for brake fluid.  :pimp:

That is awesome!!!!  Way to use your car the way it was meant to be used.

You doing track days with your 1LE is akin to me pulling a fully loaded landscaping trailer with my truck, or somebody filling their minivan with 6 kids and going to a soccer practice.  I love using vehicles for the tasks they were designed to do.

Remember service advisors work on commission the more they can charge , the more goes into their pocket
If they sell enough service there are always free trips to conventions

I think it was a Velar? Tranny fluid from the dealer is very expensive.

And I do not get commission, but a bonus of gross.

i paid 560 for transmission fluid for the merc, so 900 on newer land rover is entirely believable...

probably like 40$ a liter, and gotta put in like 9 of them or something.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Ouch! I just paid $600 for a service for the Lexus, thought that was enough. Got the full inspection as it is new to us, plus a brake fluid change, 4 wheel alignment, cabin filter, oil change.

Looks like it should be nothing but oil changes now for a while

I had the MDX serviced at Acura up until the drivetrain warranty was up.  I believe the largest bill was just over $300, it all seemed reasonable.  I would expect Acura to be less than the pure luxury brands though.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Yeah, I would feel guilty for not driving it on a track ever. There are so many things that are designed for track use on the car, you can't explore the limit on the streets. I played with PTM setting a bit and stuck with Sport 1. Didn't have the guts to try Sport 2 and Race yet.

That said, I think some better brake fluid may be in order soon since I can feel my brakes getting a bit squishy after a session(20 minutes).
