Have to see about the plate but maybe the 11 screws that are holding the rest of it together might be a problem we'll see. I have a follow-up appointment later in the month. The Nissan never felt like it was mine.

yes - bike. My front wheel locked completely (still not sure why but was in construction zone on highway) and I pin wheeled off at 30km/h or so. In Crowsness.

Any idea why it happened? Sounds like something mechanical for a full lock up.

Bike needs some bolt on stuff but is fixable.
Parts cost a bit so maybe 500 to 600

It was like someone stuck a stick in my front spoke.

Transition between construction and pavement. It was 32c so one theory was from fresh pavement ramp all the tar came to surface to make it slippy. Or a rock jammed in my front brake. All pretty unlikely except it did happen. :(

Rocks usually disintegrate rather than full lock up.  Lotsa force there!

Changed the oil on the Tundra tonight. 201k kms now. It’s been the most reliable vehicle I’ve owned especially considering the paces I’ve put it through. Actually maybe a tossup with my ‘91 Prelude.  I’ll likely keep it for another couple years. By that time the rust will have gotten to the rear fenders pretty good. It’s odd, because I’ve never seen another Tundra with rusted fenders.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Great to hear about most reliable.

It's odd about the fenders (and shitty).  Most older Tundras I see have minimal/zero rust.  But then there's the odd one that does.

If you plan on keeping it longer, and it's still reliable maybe a used bed from a Tundra with a  wrecked front end would work?

On the older Tundra's it's the frames that  rust. My friend had a 2004. They replaced the frame under recall. The body on that truck was mostly rust free.
The newer ones don't seem to suffer from this .

Yeah, that was an issue that only affected the 1st gens.  They fixed it on the 2007+ Tundras.  Most Tundras tend to be generally rust free, at least the ones that I see around here.  I have no clue how they hold up in salty Ontario or Quebec.  I CAN tell you that Fords and Rams still rust like crazy around here.

I'm hoping for great things from my Tundra.  Since we got the Civic, the Tundra only gets used for long highway trips.  Yes, it's usually pulling a trailer, or has a canoe on the rack, but steady state driving pulling a load is still the best thing for that truck.  It should last me forever at this rate.

There was a TSB for frame inspection on the current gen, not sure all what years it applied to.  Mine was inspected at the dealer, found everything to be in order.  The dealer then applied an anti-rust coating on the frame.  Its kind of a hard/waxy coating.

Obviously I'd like a new truck, but this one is capable and reliable so far, and really that's what I'm looking for in a pickup.  Older junior will be getting his license in 1.5 years so I was considering just passing this down to him.  At that point I will likely still be able to get 10k for it.  Not sure I want to give my kid 10k for his 16th.  He won't be able to afford the gas in it anyway  :rofl2:

It would be nice to have some creature comforts that yours doesn't have.  My advice would be to wait a couple of years until the new Tundra is sorted, then get a hybrid one.  You're positioned perfectly, because you're due for a new truck.  I'll be positioned well to get a new truck when the generation after next comes out in 15 years, lol.

Ya for sure on the creature comforts.

Regarding the timing of the new one; that's likely 1-2 years out.  I'd would prefer to buy a 2-3 year old used model, so potentially 3-5 years before I'd look at the next gen.  I feel like that's pushing it a bit for me.  We'll see I guess.

Have to see about the plate but maybe the 11 screws that are holding the rest of it together might be a problem we'll see. I have a follow-up appointment later in the month. The Nissan never felt like it was mine.

Well that sucks.  Hope you heal up well.
