Ordered new rear tires for the 951, Hankook RS-4's, none in stock in North America in the required size (225/50/16), so I'll have to wait 3 weeks for them to arrive. In the meantime I'll have to put up with the super noisy RE-11's that are on the rear for now.
Well, these finally arrived yesterday, almost a full 6 weeks after I ordered them! Install booked for Monday afternoon before my golf game. Hopefully they'll be quieter than the old worn out RE-11's.

Yeah, they sure are. Started out on the front of the car 6yrs ago, installed them on the rear August 2018 & then last summer I had a screw in left one & patched it myself, still holding air great. They have about 12,000 miles on them now, so just over 19,000kms on a 200 treadwear rating. And that includes a few lapping days on them.

It makes me look at what are possibilities to fit an Apple CarPlay unit into my SW2, found only (1) Pioneer yet as retrofit compatible with my old school car... Anything else?

https://www.crutchfield.ca/p_130AV3500/Pioneer-AVH-3500NEX.html
Tough having a single din. Here’s another option, Sony XAV-AX8000. Pretty expensive at $700 but has a big 9” screen.  The screen can slide up and down and tilt 4 ways to suit your dash.

Thanks for the effort. I know, there is not much option for Apple CarPlay in single DIN (2") head unit. I note that specific model but for unknown reason, Crutchfield shows "does not fit" with my Saturn

If ever I take this road (I highly doubt for now), chance are more with Pioneer or someone else...

Wait a minute, your SW2 looks like it supports 2DIN. The stock radio looks like a single DIN over a storage tray, remove both and replace it with a 2DIN with the right dash kit (Metra 95-3106).

Hope these work out well for you, look forward to your impressions

I know, it is confusing. The head unit is clearly single DIN, but lot of space under, not sure if double DIN adapter exist for -S- series. I have to check your Metra reference above if compatible or designed for other Saturn models, the -S- ended with 2002MY, I saw your p/n listed as 2000-2005 on Amazon...

That's Crutchfield USA though, but with the exchange rate it's still about $200 less. It only got a 3.5 star rating.

Thanks both of you. For now, SW2 priority are:

1) new tires : in order
2) check A/C : appointment taken
then & only maybe
3) new CarPlay head unit...  ::)

Replaced the battery in my car yesterday. The old one lasted 7.5 years and over 100k km. Not bad for a tiny group 51 battery IMHO.
that's good for Winnipeg's climate

I thought so too.

I my quest to quiet the front suspension noises on my Wife's Acadia I had replaced the sway bar bushing, and front control arm bushings which were both clearly worn/cracked/soft. However these parts didn't fix the problem. Yesterday I replaced the sway bar end links again that were replaced only a year and half ago which seems to have solved the issue. Even though I ordered the same parts (Mevotech) from rockauto, the new links are substantially beefier (both the ball joints and the shaft are much bigger) and have grease fittings on them now. I suspect they had issues with the previous design and have made improvements. Hopefully these ones last a little big longer.

Edit: Also changed the transfer case and reaf diff fluids for the first time. Transfer case fluid still looked new, rear diff oil was significantly darker but didn't look too bad either. ~129k km

Noticed some steering vibration at 80-90 km/h so I decided to get my tires rebalanced at Costco, free of charge. Tires are 5 year old Michelin AS3's with about 80km on them (5/32 left). Nice and smooth now. Will likely get new tires in the spring, probably the same Michelins (I think they're AS3+ now) since I'm very happy with them.

Wow, considering Michelin only has something like a 70k km treadwear guarantee on these. Might get these for my wife the.

PS4S and AS3+ are pretty much the best summer / AS tires you can get. You pay for that privilege, of course.

I can’t remember exactly, but mine also have about 5/32” left, with only around 20k km on them.

Depends on how you drive, or maybe the AS3+ doesn’t wear as well?

The rubber is sticky so it’s not supposed to wear well.

Or does 1FGC actually mean 80 km and not 80k km? :rofl2:
