Ok, because its Father's day soon and this is a car enabler site, you deserve the following feedback:

- You already have a beautiful house, in a beautiful neighborhood
- You have a perfect hand me down car
- Your kid is on a great path

So, where is the damn Porsche?

His daughter doesn’t want an old mans couple , she wants a cool SUV  ;D :rofl2:

Totally get it. I’m actually the opposite. I like the idea of switching cars frequently, to try new wheels, at least in my head. But then it just doesn’t happen. I always thought it’s because I’m busy with work and life and stuff, but I think it’s just personality. Different strokes for different folks.

The Z would throw a code for a coil pack every once and while. Didn't say which one. So I finally replaced all plus the spark plugs.

Engine is not much a looker with all the plastic and intake off. A little tight but do-able. Car runs much better now. I bet the other coil packs were marginal and plugs looked older as well.

Nice. At least it’s a longitudinal V6. I still have to do the wife’s 3’s spark plugs.

I replaced the shocks in my 5. The old shocks were Monroes and had both completely failed at 15 months of service. This is the second premature failure of Monroes I’ve seen, and I’ve only used them twice. Replaced them with KYB Gas-a-Strut. I used their Excel line before and had no issues with them whatsoever, the Gas-a-Strut line is a step up dual chamber design which allows for comfort during regular driving and more aggressive dampening when taking corners.

The problem with the rear shocks is that it’s the exact same shocks as the Mazda 3 which is 500 lb lighter. On top of that, the 5 has a max payload of almost 1200 lb vs. 850 lb on the 3. Guess where most of that extra curb and payload weight is going? I think the only thing different is the heavier rear spring rate. Oh well, it’s 30 minutes a side with hand tools from past experience, and I just bought an impact driver.

Good, rear shock check list: done !

Tell us now how different is the ride with "KYB Gas-a-Strut" as you just installed them as replacement. Do they have the same rating capacity or better?

Unfortunately I replaced the rear shocks due to the old ones being shot, so I have no baseline. Further to that, KYB has the same part number between the 3 and the 5 so there’s nothing different there. Bilstein is the only manufacturer that builds a 5 specific shock. I wanted the dual chamber design though.

Replaced them with KYB Gas-a-Strut.

The Lexus peeps typically replace their OEM stuff with Excel G

KYB are quality but affordable stuff.

Took the roadster out this evening for a good drive.  Haven't had it out in a while and it felt fantastic.  Have to say I prefer driving it in early evening when it starts to cool off after a hot day.  Absolutely perfect weather for that tonight.  Also, I find that roads with big maple trees along side echo the sound almost like being in a tunnel. Fun stuff!  8)

That’s what I heard from a lot of people. I put in Excel Gs in my last Mazda 5. They’re not more expensive than Monroe so I’m surprised they haven’t increased their prices considering it is a much better shock. Or maybe Monroe is just highly overpriced for what it is.

Pulled this out of the engine bay on the 323i last night. I'd say Bella was lucky she made it home.... guesses?

Ordered the replacement parts from Rockauto just now, should be here by Thursday.

I'd say that's part of the serpentine belt.  I'd also check for the reason it shredded in the first place.  My guess is a seized idler pulley.
