Good article from the nineties with some great oldies: Our old Contour SVT was still my wife's favourite car.

I like the Contour SVT. Indeed it sounds nice. 90s Ford at it's best.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Got new rear tires finally for the Fairlady. Pretty clean underneath for being 17 years old. I wonder if it was never in the rain or something similar. The paint markings from assembly are all still there.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Took the Civic to the mechanic by my work (Claudio's) for an oil/filter change.  $40 all in for a conventional oil change, 4L of oil, and a filter.  That's cheaper than I can do it myself after i buy the oil and the filter (although I say that, and I notice now that Canadian Tire has half price oil at the moment - $13-$16 for 5L).  Not to mention then I have to go through the pain in the ass of actually doing the oil change, transferring the old oil into a container (some always spill on to my yard), and then driving to dispose of the oil.

It's a no-brainer to take the car to Claudio's for oil changes at that price.  Once the truck's off warranty, I'll probably bring it to him, too, and just bring in my own oil (I'll be using AMSOIL in the truck).

Took a few laps with the 911.
Got a few things to work on, clutch needs adjustment, throttle rods need adjustment, brake fluid needs to be refreshed, oil leak needs an o-ring.

Also, while braking, downshifting and turning in at 150kph something went "rattle rattle ting",  I think I left a tool of some sort in the undercarriage somewhere, now it's on the track. ::)

Well for now the wife is getting a hot tub. We'll see. I think the Fiero has a rear main seal leak which is an engine or transmission out job so that will keep me busy for a bit.

I wanted to get a set of cross bar rails for Mrs. Railtons QX60 and I inquired at the dealer as to cost. $450+ tax said the cheerful parts man at Infiniti or $499+tax installed.
I had a look around on Kijiji and found a set for $150 and installed them today. Cosmetically they have a few scuffs where their ski box was mounted but not that anyone would notice unless looking straight down on them.

Nice find on the used market. I'd love to get set for the wife's van but not willing to pay the dealer's price.

Installed new power steering hose on the pickup.   At one point I had to use a pipewrench to get a stub of the compression nut out.

Seems all better now, I only replaced the bottom half as the upper looked fine and involved a lot more wrenching.
Now to charge to AC and see how that works...

Yeah, they're airfoil in shape so there shouldn't be too much wind noise with them.
I got them to mount the Kayaks on - there's another attachment for that yet to do. ::)

Luckily, the same part is use don the first gen JX35 as well as Pathfinders and QX60 so there was actually more around used than I thought. Also, aftermarket available for about the same price.
