Ordered a new compressor, valves and dryer for the facking TT AC system today.

$437 delivered.

Dealer wanted near $1k.  For a compressor.   ::)

That's really pretty good.

Yea..not horrific.

We'll see if that solves the issue.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Dropped it off at the shop this AM.  Found out that AC condenser is shot...   [emoji14]

Eff, man.  That's a shitty one.  It's usually buried in the dash...lots of labour.

It'll be a $1000 job.  Oh well.  Still love the car.

Got an Euro indie? Still looking for a decent priced one in Ottawa, most are similar in price to the dealers I find...
Metric Motors isn't too bad. Scandinavian Auto is pretty good according to Chaos as well.

Yeah Scandinavian gets all my business. Honest mechanics and good people. Rates are excellent. Going to be there today and tomorrow actually, both cars need work done.

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

That's a fukton less than the transfer case I replaced that I didn't likely really need when it could've been $700 for a driveshaft instead...which I still have to buy.   >:(

Oh right...what did I do.  I washed, clayed, and glazed it.  Might do another coat of that and then maybe wax it too.  WTF...might as well keep that pearly white pearly white!  It's still so pretty when it's all shined up.  Best factory clear coat ever...much better than what the body shop did last year.

Have it in at Scandinavian Auto, noisy trunion bushing. Thankfully that is it. Took a look around the shop while waiting...some nice metal. The Porsche is for sale by the owner of the shop, 87 Carerra, impeccably maintained. If interested can see what I can do to help.

Those are some nice rides. I miss my 1800E. Anyhow putting on some new Zimmermann rotors on the LR4 tonight (again). I love the Germans, detailed installation pamphlet on how the rotor must be installed. Detailed notes on cleaning the hub, checking the hub runout, mounting disc, and then checking total runout. I wonder how many places do that.  :rofl2: The funny thing is I will do all that because this particular vehicle tends to somehow cause brake runout.. Im blaming my wife and daughter and a hilly environment.

How many sets of rotors have you done on that thing now?
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

They do their fair share of BMWs here. Three at shop now actually, and one tech dailies an E46 gen 325 I think.

I think it is a turbo indeed. Dunno if it runs though.

Not many I guess just some bad choices.  ;D . It had 80 k kms when I bought it and I did not replace those rotors OEM Brembo) until 120kms. I then bought some Raybestos Professional series which have been total garbage. They lasted 100 k kms until they developed horrible runout. I then ran some Zimmermanns for about 50 k kms until they too developed some runout but also had some good wear. When I replaced the garbage Raybestos I had them machined since they had so little physical wear. Bad decision as they went about 4k kms until they developed runout again. Now new Zimmermmans are going back on. Each time hub runout has been checked and is close to 0.

Land Rover rotors seem to be very soft steel (high carbon ?). This gives the brakes excellent bit e and power abut they do not last long at all. People complain about brake pads making their wheels a mess well a portion of that gunk is brake rotor as well.

Ordered new rear tires for the 951, Hankook RS-4's, none in stock in North America in the required size (225/50/16), so I'll have to wait 3 weeks for them to arrive. In the meantime I'll have to put up with the super noisy RE-11's that are on the rear for now.

Checked on the Fiero rear brakes. What a dumb design probably since it was recycled from the fwd Citation. Both bolts to take caliper off are inaccessible. The hose needs to be moved out of the way. Either the handbrake mechanism comes off or you really awkwardly snake around it. Not a huge deal but dumb. Pads looks new but one side has more meat on it than the other. I assume it designed like that. Regardless they look fine.

Single piston floating caliper I assume? Most cases with mismatched pad thickness is sticky caliper pins. Even with perfect pins pads tend to not be equal in that design.

Yes. I have not looked at the front yet. The rotor looks easy to replace though for next time.

Did you try Adria?

Correction - I wrote condenser instead of compressor.

It's at Motor Medics.  Adria's labour rate is about $20/hr higher.  Also, they did some unauthorized work on the 850 years ago - wasn't the end of the world in terms of cost, but means I have no faith in them.  Damir at Motor Medics is also from Croatia, btw.

Rockauto ?

Yup...with my 5% discount.  If anyone needs a discount code until August, hit me up.

The AC in my Z3M stopped working last year.  Luckily where I am near the coast I don't really need it so haven't even bothered to look into getting it fixed and likely will not.  If i lived in your area it would be different.  Now, if the heater, or heated seats stopped working that would be a different story.   ;D
