^Amsoil and Redline too, basically anything synthetic that wasn't Honda OEM fluid was a vast improvement.

^^^  You can add BG to that list.  Any thing from these aftermarket companies far surpasses the OEM stuff when referring to gear lubes.  ATF fluids different story so I stick with OEM because in 99% of cases it's a mix/blender rather than a complete drain like a manual tranny.

Replaced the front struts on the Ford Edge. It was out of commission as one strut broke and the top poked right through the mounting bracket hole and cracked the cowl.
I bought all-in-one KYB assemblies from RockAuto. Much cheaper than local supplier generic parts.

Yikes, I bet that sounded good when it happened. How was the install? Did you get it aligned after or does it feel fine without?

Took Mrs.Firm and Jr.Firm with me for a good 2-hour drive yesterday in the Escalade, delivered a package (parts I had sold) out in Hamilton - but made it a bit of a drive just to get everyone out of the house.

Weather for the weekend looks good, sunny and double digits, so I got my polishes and waxes out. Hoping to give the DTS a good spring detailing since it's looking a little ragged. It won't get much use as long as the virus lock-down continues, especially once the summer toys come out and I can start using those for the few errands.

Also charged up all the batteries (6, I think) I have in the basement for the toys.

With winter fuel & tires it's about 3-4L/100km I'd say.

So back down to 8.5L/100km pure highway (oh god, almighty, could we not have just stuck with mpg!; who was PM during that switch  ???) and 15L/100km city with an authoritative foot.  ;D

Funny, that's what the article was called:

Looks like this forecast was pretty accurate in terms of the snowfall amount although the timing was about a day and a half off.

This is the Maxima?

The highway mileage isn't too bad.  It's only about 1L/100km off what our 2.5 Altima would do on the highway.  That's good for a big, powerful V6 vs a wimpy 4-banger.

The city mileage is way off, though.  Altima would do 11-12L/100km in the city.  I guess that's the penalty for having close to 300hp.

Looks like this forecast was pretty accurate in terms of the snowfall amount although the timing was about a day and a half off.

I've been driving the Civic to/from work in this snow.  A little 5-minute commute, so no worries.  Let me tell you, the truck is easy mode.  Big, heavy, powerful, 4x4, and great tires.  This snow 'storm' wouldn't even register for the truck.

But in the Civic with its old, nearly-bald tires, open diff, and nearly no ground clearance?  You gotta really know how to drive in the snow, I tell ya.  The best part is the rear tires are more worn than the front tires, so traction in the back is significantly less than in the front.  When going around corners, the car wants to swap ends.  Oh, and it doesn't have traction or stability control of any kind.  I'm loving it.  The car needs to be driven in these conditions.  It will improve its temperament next year when I put the winter tires on, but for now, it's fun-city.

We're driving two hours on the highway tomorrow to pick up the puppy.  We'll definitely be taking the truck.  I don't mind driving the car in these conditions for a 5-10 minute commute, but spending 2 hours on the highway with the entire family on board?  Ya, no thanks.

The two bottles of Iron-X I ordered from e-shine arrived today.  I wish I had checked the local CTC first as they had Autoglym Magma in stock for a little more than half of what i paid for the Ironn-X.  That's the first time I've ever seen it available locally.  Last year I checked online and website said they had two bottles in stock at one of the stores in the city but had none when i got there, of course.  Never needed this stuff until i got a white car and one more reason to hate white for a car colour imo.  :P

Anyway, now i just need a warm day for some detailing work.  Windy as hell here today.

I usually charge to 80% (coz of long commute). Car losing 1% daily, am at 71% now. Set the threshold to charge at 55% instead of 80% now. Only need to drive for groceries.
