Yea, guys with the ISFs liked them lots.

But they said they were "meh" in the wet.
I am sure they will perform well enough in the wet for my needs. Majnly looking for straight line hookup ability. My Alfa has them on now, and they have been great on that car. Very sticky in the dry and OK enough in the wet that I didnt think about them while driving.

Overall, great tire and I could not see spending 3x as much for Michelin PS4S for a bit better grip.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Gonna go pick up that 2008 Civic this evening so I can take it for a safety inspection tomorrow.  I want to know what it needs to pass safety before I make an offer to buy it.

I'm lucky because the person selling it works in the office across from me, so I have some leeway to take the car for a few days without committing to it.

Putting the snow tires back on the Ridgeline. I have a 1400km journey this weekend and the forecast is for 20cm at overnight lows touching -30. Things get greasy at that temp.  >:(

Wait...you took your snow tires off in March....in Alberta?!?!?!?!

I usually wait for the Canada day long weekend just to be sure there won't be anymore snow or below zero temps  ;D
Lighten up Francis.....

Yeah well I usually leave one vehicle with them on but it is needed in town this weekend so I have to take the Ridge. I have been running the all seasons ( Michelin Defender MS) and they are a better handling tire in the temps we have had over the past 3 weeks. (-10 to 10 and little snow).  This shot of cold + the snow has convinced the wife me that I should go back to winters to be safe. Only takes about 15 mins or so but I cleaned the winters up for storage. Oh well.

Land Rover got an oil change. Easy and quick since Land Rover included a "sump straw" to attach a top sider suction device to and the cartridge filter is from the top. No crawling under anything!

Expensive though. Filter is $45 and damn sump takes 8L.

Why not buy filters from RockAuto?

Got the other 2 tires at work. Now they are ready to go on the nice black rims and finally give Kira the Lexus some traction, because apparently driving a sport sedan as intended is a bit much for the rears on the Toyo GSi5s...

While the tires get installed I am also doing a brake service, diff oil change, changing out both leaking axles, and putting in new coolant and brake fluid. Should do it for the spring! Might also think about doing an ignition system refresh, the car sometkmes does tend to crank for a while and be slow to fire up...

With all the talk of RockAuto on this forum, I decided to check out how much a cabin air filter costs.

The most expensive is $14.64.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/lexus,2017,es350,3.5l+v6,3436895,heat+&+air+conditioning,cabin+air+filter,6832

The dealer charged me $71 + labor. Seems like I would be better off buying a 5-pack of the things from RockAuto and replace myself every few months. Am I missing something? Also, how would I choose from among the options at RockAuto?

Did you not get the free coffee and cookies?  ;)

Rockauto gets you on shipping and they are horrible when it comes to customer service (through email only and every time you reply you get a new person who is clueless about the issue). I'd suggest to use Paypal for an extra piece of mind.

Re: cabin filters, I tried a few brands and Denso is currently is my favourite. Great quality for a low(er) price.

Final option, for genuine parts there is one dealer in London and one in Scarborough and prices are competitive VS what "retail" dealers like to charge. Just google "genuine lexus parts Canada"
Hope it helps.

Hasn't been my experience with rockauto at all.

Shipping reasonable (unless you have stuff coming from 3 warehouses). Customer service has always been prompt the two time I've needed them.

RockAuto is fantastic.

For cabin filter, I like POTAUTO brand from Amazon.

^^^ The shipping gets expensive if you need to buy just one item, like a filter. Can be easily double the item's cost. But if e.g. it's half a dozen of oil filters at a time they are hard to beat. On the other hand car dealers have upped their game and the last few purchases of various oem Hyundai things I made locally online and picked up in Thornhill.

P.S. I think I have a Potauto carbon cabin filter somewhere, gotta try it some time.

But that's not unique to RockAuto LOL..and not their fault.

You think shipping for a $5 filter to Canada should cost less than the filter?

Deal or no deal...you still have to shop smart.

I do. Bought a WIX but different media than Mahle/Mann. Unsure about it as it lacks the fibreglass reinforcing but out it in anyhow. Looks like it was $40.  ;)

Changed to the Z rated Michelin summers. What a difference.  :D Sharper handling, and lower rolling resistance. It is almost like the car is free-wheeling. Feels like a new car.
