Replacing with either a cheap reliable car, or something else stupid.

You called?

I love the idea, the masochist in me wants it. But I need a winter capable vehicle. Any beater Delta Integrale Evos out there? Haha.

Seeing a 500 Abarth in Mtl this weekend. Low kms great condition. I also want to shop Lexus that are good on gas.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I guess that would not be a real Abarth...600 cc twin, Fiat 500/600 body   That one.

Budget is under $10k if I can get some money for the Mini.

This morning, brand new Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3, LRR winter shoes for Volt #3.
Next year: winter mags & tpms. I choose to split the total expense over 2 years.

A little late on one item and quite a bit late on another:

Got Blubaru Krowned a month ago and put on my winter tires on Wednesday.

Mrs. Random’s tires go on tomorrow.

Winter has arrived in Montreal.

Haven't done, but thinking about it.

Do winter tires ever get weird?  And by that I mean...we're driving down the highway today, roads are basically dry, a little wet, and just outside the tracks it's possibly a little slippery. The weird part is when the wind let go or I moved out of the main tracks, the car felt like the back went north and the front went south as if you were driving on pretty decent ridges. It's an odd feeling and freaked my wife out.  Obviously I'm driving TOO fast! (going 100-110) - so I slow down to 100 even - some girl in a Chrysler 300 comes flying up behind me, passes on the gas, and gone.  I'm thinking she's gonna lose it!  My car's wiggling like an articulating tractor going through moguls... :P

Seems it was doing this last winter too.  Last Christmas, we're on the way to the B/SIL's and I ended up driving the in-laws there in their Buick. Roads are icy, snow covered, and he's not a winter tire kinda guy.  He also only uses about 15 bucks worth of gas in 6 weeks so... ???  I was driving 80-90 and my kid was behind in the Fusion white-knuckling it all the way there.  The Grand Cherokee (I passed) in front of them also slowed down from almost losing it.  And here I am in a FWD Buick Encore cruising like aint nuttin' wrong.

So now I'm wondering if at 6 yrs old, they're simply just shyte.  Looks like they have lots of tread left...so hate to give up on them, but they really suck, even in the parking lots today. Pretty sure the summer Pirellis were no worse at the first snowfall and there was a lot more snow then.  Just seems weird how they went bad...perhaps I should leave traction control on and stop trying to pitch it sideways with the next set if that's what I need. (tire guy did tell me they aren't even round anymore...so there is that...)

Truck needs tires too...

Rubber does harden over time. At least you’re enlightened with the fact that this could be your tires’ last winter.

Installed the WeatherTecs & mounted Blizzaks on both the van and the Audi yesterday - and just in time as we're getting 20 cm overnight. Lug nuts torqued at proper setting with my manual torque wrench, pressures adjusted, windshield fluid topped up and winter blades installed on the van. Waxed both sides of the winter wheels prior to installation. Cars are ready, even if we're not.

Took the Golf on a 850 km road trip to Barrie and back, all on secondary highways.

I drove the wheels off of the Golf over 50 km of unbelievably fun roads that were completely empty.  West of Calabogie ski hill for those in the area.

The right headlight went out on the drive home yesterday. I was expecting it to be a nightmare to replace but it wasn't bad at all. What was cool is that when the headlight went out the car turned on the DRL for that side (the high beam dimmed).

I didn’t  think headlights burnt out anymore
I haven’t change one since the early 90’s
Was I the only one who was in Ottawa over the weekend , had to detour down hiway 15 to get home as hiway 7 was closed between Carlton Place and Perth because of a bad accident, 2 people were killed

I've had to replace a few headlights, the Mazda's were by far the most annoying.

I run with the headlights always on so I'm sure that was a contributor.

And sucks about the crash and the detour. Fortunately for me I was North of it yesterday.
