New spark plugs, oil change, and tire rotation on the Lexus.  Driving to Newfoundland on Sunday.  8)

Have fun in my homeland!

I vacuumed and cleaned the interior of the Tundra this morning.  While I was at it I replaced the winter rubber mats with the summer cloth mats.  I didn't realize they were TRD specific, so that's cool.

Not something I *did* but it was so hot yesterday that the glue holding my rearview mirror failed and it fell off. Very strange driving without a rearview mirror, going to get the repair kit after work today.

Took the front license plate off as it is no longer required in New Brunswick as of today.

Bella's 323i has had an intermittent engine light over the past few months & since I drove it to work a couple times in the past couple weeks I noticed it seemed down on power as well.

I don't have an OBD-II reader, never had the need for one since the 951 doesn't have an OBD port & my other cars were new & under warranty, so dealership they went. Borrowed a buddies reader, slick little bluetooth unit that I just downloaded an app to use. So I read the codes & it was a camshaft position sensor, timing over retarded. Did a quick google search and its basically the Vanos Solenoids that are acting up, both intake & exhaust. Found a YouTube video were you take them out & clean them with MAF cleaner, or carb cleaner & test then with a 9 volt battery to make sure they open & close. So I did that this afternoon & it seems to have solved the issue. The engine light went away & the car runs MUCH better, pulls much stronger and quicker. I also cleared the codes now, so I'll see if they come back over the next but. New solenoids are $85ea thru Rockauto, so if it comes back I'll order a new set.

Here's a couple pics.

Mounted a new set Michelin LTX Premier tires on the wife's Cherokee. Roadforce balanced as well. Gave it a bath as well.

Fun fact = VANOS is simply a German acronym for Variable Nockenwellesteuerung   ;D ('variable camshaft timing')

Cuz that's what went bust on my Peugeot and I had to figure out what the service advisor was telling me  ::)

Good tires...
They really are.  I love them on my Highlander. So smooth and quiet with solid handling.

Replaced the endlinks on my Cruze. The OEM GM endlinks are composite, but I opted for the more robust Moogs. The steering seems a little tighter, (which is probably my imagination,) but the car wanders less at 100+ kph after having to run across the city on the freeway. The Cruze has always had steering dead on centre feel, but I noticed during this afternoon's run, I was making far fewer steering corrections.

I'm pretty sure they out bump-free even the best.  Except when driving in Quebec. There's no cure for those roads.

Took kiddo over to IKEA yesterday evening to ramble around a bit. and went through the wand wash on the way home to remove the rather impressive layer of dust on the car.

That black pearl paint is quite nice when clean.
