Sounds like Mitsu dealers are hurting and trying to make up with parts pricing that is probably a multiple of MSRP.  Subaru dealers around here do this on lots of parts.

Ahh, classic dealership, then.

AC Delco part (for the actuator) $123 CDN from RockAuto.

So they were REALLY trying to rip him off IMO.

:censor:.

I mean, that's crazy.  I wonder if, since the actuator was the problem, they would have not replaced it and still charged him for.it.

I saw a DTS just like yours...except the colour was near identical to my IS-F.  A red metallic colour.  Looked interesting in that color.

Daughter's CEL on her Accent turned out to be a bad purge valve, cheap to fix. Runs smoother now.

Drove her Hyundai this morning to pick-up this week's assignment, a Mustang EB 'vert, but my booking got bumped by one of the big guys ... after one of the big guys totalled the brand new fleet Bullitt - the fleet was one Mustang short, schedules got shuffled. They thought of me though, and handed me a brand new GT Coupe with stick, school bus yellow with school bus black stripes. Will drive my other daughter to her prom with it, not as classy as the 'vert but wayyyyy louder!

I am OK with either :D

Tony did actually drive a white Gen2 Escalade, I believe from season 3(?) onwards. It replaced his GMT400 Suburban.

Mitsubishi opened a local parts warehouse few years ago and prices went up quite a bit. I usually get substantial discounts on parts due to my relationship with the Operation Manager but some parts are still out of wack no matter what. I choose and pick usually for what I get OEM, aftermarket or aftermarket supplied by the dealership.

In the case of the sensors I went for me supplying the parts since even aftermarket from his supplier would've been substantially more expensive than online. When he supplies the aftermarket parts, he warranties parts and labor. If I supply, there is no warranty but on a case by case basis I go for what makes sense.

Why bother with CEL at this point?
You could always use the spark plug defouler trick.

Yeah I know, I could drive it as is but I'm kind of anal when it comes to maintenance even though sometimes doesn't make much economical sense (but within reason).

Anyway, lately I started to use more aftermarket parts to compensate a little.

Subaru used prices are too high for used car value buyers.  Lexus aren't deals by any stretch, but subarus are worse.

I've noticed lately that RXs aren't priced much, if any, higher than Highlanders. If you can live without the third row and don't mind the slightly smaller cargo area, the RX would be a better used buy. Bonus is your Toyota indie can easily service it for the same costs as the Highlander.

That's the thing, I prefer no 3rd row to begin with.  The vans always have the 3rd row down.  I don't need the extra cargo space.  But the mid size SUV market with no 3rd row is smaller than that with SUV's with the 3rd row.  I would take an older higher mileage RX vs a newer lower mileage Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, or Nissan Murano.
What about a poor mans RX, a Venza ?

Thats an idea, would have to test drive the top trim V6 though.  But when looking at Autotrader, for vehicles around 70k to 95k, they are only $2000-$3000 cheaper than the RX, similar age, and mileage.

When you selling your RX?  Hows that been?  I mean the Mark Levinson is worth it!  What's the mileage?

The Venza is a nice package.  We looked at them new back when and the missus loved it.  As close to a Camry Wagon as we've had in a long time.  We didn't think the pricing was good value (not terrible, but not great) and some things like the giant wheels that demanded expensive tires were a turn-off.  Of course, those wheels are normal now and there's tons of tires for them.

That's relation to the Camry is why it didn't catch my attention too much.  Can't stand the Camry.  Also how the dash is not one piece, the rattles.  Doesn't look as well made as other Toyota products.  Those damn Ford Edge prices are pretty damn appealing though, like $4-6k cheaper than an RX.

Took the Tundy into the dealer today for a rust inspection campaign. Frame is fine, but it has to go back in for a frame coating, which they are doing on all Tundras that fall under the campaign. They said they need three days and provide me a rental. All good to me. What a :censor: job cleaning a 12 year old frame to be coated  :rofl2:

Yup, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Service dude did say they’ve done a few minor repairs on other trucks, but it’s mostly been application of the “corrosion resistant compound”. I’d like to know if it’s more of an oil or undercoating. I’ve read it’s kind of a black waxy substance.
