Replaced the leaky rear brake lines on our Outback.

The lines run to the back inside the car and go out under the rear seat, they rust out shorty after exiting.  So cut them off inside the car, flare them (no easy feat, OE lines are very hard)  Put in a union and run  them out  and to the calipers.  Would have been a real PITA to do, but I have a friend with a hoist.

BTW, I was going to buy OE lines at the dealer when one of the mechanics told me I'd have to drop the tank and subframe to run it that way.  Saved me a the headache of returning them when I looked under.  Just bought lines at Crappy tire, of course had to combine them with unions as they only had some lengths in stock.

When my teenage son was flipping beaters acquired from the two stores we used Nickel-Cooper tube.  So easy.  Just zip tied them to what was available.  ;D  Steel lines would have been out of the question.

Fuel line, same thing.

I had a leaky one on the Forester. Would have damn near need to take the back half of the car apart.

My dad picked up a 2019 BMW 430i Gran Coupe on Friday to supplement his fleet of Hondas.  He used to be a big BMW guy until gremlins drove him crazy a couple of years ago.  We will see how this goes....it won’t see a ton of mileage as he’s also keeping his Ridgeline.

Nice car, but not my thing. I’ll try to take it for a drive this week.

Put the front license plate on the Jetta. Got a stainless steel kit that threads into the front tow hook socket. Easy peasy.

So the boy was complaining the Tercel was sounding funny. When he got home I noticed it was idling low and running just a little rough. There was an odd clicking noise. Popped the hood and one of the spark plug boots had come off and was grounding against the cam cover and sparking pretty good.  :o

Obviously I should have replaced the wires when I did the plugs.

On the Tercel that I had, there was a resonance chamber that slip fit into the pipe between the airbox and intake. When I first got it, I thought it sounded a bit loud, and the idle was a bit low, but it seemed to work okay other than that.

One day I was poking around under the hood trying to find a rattle. I found the resonance tube. It had fallen off and was wedged between the engine and firewall. Air filter had been bypassed for lord knows how long. Popped the tube back into place and all was good.

Replaced rear pads and rotors on my civic, one of the sliders was stuck pretty good. I needed to pound it out with a hammer but got it re-greased and moving pretty good again. Will have to keep an eye on it to see if it starts getting sticky again.

Also replaced the left cv axle again. I previously replaced it a couple years ago and noticed this spring that the boot was torn. I probably could've replaced just the boot but you have to take the axle out to replace the boot anyways so I just replaced the whole thing. Hopefully this one lasts longer...

Installed new front strut assemblies on the Acadia, pretty simple job once the plastic cowl is removed. Was pleasantly surprised that Monroe quick struts were 50% off at part source matching rock autos price so i was able to buy them locally. Just need an appointment for an alignment and hopefully thats it for the Acadia this year. (Other than fluid changes)

Took it for an alignment and turns out the rear upper control arm bushings were worn out. There were no noises or odd tire wear that would give any sign but they wouldn't do an alignment without replacing the control arms. They wanted 168 each for the control arms plus labour to replace.... So back to rock auto for new control arms where they were 50% less and a couple of hours in the garage with my little helpers today and hopefully its finally ready to be aligned. The bushings were indeed shot so it's nice to have new ones.
