Not sure if we have a thread like this or not?

Will be good for little blurbs (or big ones!) about stuff you did to your car today.  I'll go first!

IS300:  Took it in for an e-test.  This is the new OBDII test..no dyno/tail pipe sniffer.  My OBD-WIZ software does the same test as the stealerhip. The car passed at home..and passed at the stealer.  Shame is cost $39 though.  Current mileage is 251,800...and still clean.

GS400:  Oil change with Amsoil 5W30 and Amsoil Ea oil filter.  Put in new LED wedge bulbs in the inner lenses that better match the color of the HIDs.  Much better!!

I thought drive clean is free now. I did it last year and it was free. Did they change it again?

Stupid mistake on my side. Tapped on an old page. I thought for a second that something is wrong - the reference to the GS, but I was rushing and I hit Post anyway. Sorry about that.

Found a small bubble in the left front tire of the Golf.

I was planning on taking it on a 4hr drive to North Bayn first thing tomorrow.  I'll take the Highlander instead and fix it when I get back.  I gave a spare tire in the shed.

My wife will just use it to drive to work and back.

In the last year that's two bubbles and a flat for the Golf. About what I've had in all my other cars combined. Bloody FGCs.

I Autocrossed yesterday and I am absolutely done with my set of Fk 453, which is garbage and can't grip for sh*t on an Autocross course.

Granted, my skill isn't great and I am not really competitive anyway, but there are people who are driving their cars way harder

Thinking of Firehawk Indy 500(AKA Bridgestone RE 003) for my next set. Supposedly not as grippy as RE-71R, but if I use RE-71R, I would eat through it in no time.

Have you considered the Hankook RS4's? They are quite grippy, a bit longer lasting than the RE-71R's and cost less... so cheaper if you gotta replace them sooner.

Thanks for the advice!

I looked it up and seems like a good tire, but unfortunately, it doesn't come in the exact size my car needs, which is 225/45/R18, and they only have 225/40/R18 and 225/40/R19. The latter is actually the OEM size for an R3 RX-8, but not my GT.

I mean, I could be more flexible, but I am a bit OCD when it comes to this.

In that case you could try Dunlop Direzza ZIII in your size.  Not as fast as the RE71R, but might wear better.
Good to know, although I already put down an order for the Indy 500. Getting a pretty good deal for them, about CAN$930 installed and taxed.

Finally got around to replacing the cabin air filtre. I like cheap parts in-stock at the car parts store :) 20€ for the set, 2 clips and 5mn to replace.

Old ones were yucky.

Easy guess?  Ford V8...but what has front hinges from Ford.  Hmmm...nothing?  So, def British right?  But I'm lost after that.  Only the engine is "easy". For me.

Figured it wouldn't take long....Yes, a TR8 with a Holley Carb conversion. This one actually runs, drives and is in decent shape, which is a bit out of the norm for me. Picking it up Sunday.

Damn!!! A guy around the corner from me has one of these and I've watched it rumble past a few times already this spring...  :banghead:

So it's not a small block Ford?  Thought the front distributor was the give away...not that I'd know a British V8 if it fell on my head.

They began life as a Buick all aluminum 215, the design was sold to British Leyland.   Oldsmobile had a turbocharged version of it back in the mid-sixties IIRC

The 1962 Olds F85 Jetfire. 215hp and ~300ft-lb torque, not bad for the displacement at the time. They injected "Rocket" fuel (diluted methanol) to avoid knocking with the relatively high compression ratio since there weren't any effective engine management systems available at the time.

The debut for the Corvair Turbo was also 1962. They were the first production turbo cars available to the public.

This was from a time when the engineers still had sway within GM's corporate structure. By the time the 1970s rolled around, accountants and marketing were running the show.
