Both cars are getting ceramic coated in the next week or so, and a full polish too.

Hopefully the full polish comes before the ceramic coating.   ;D

Yup.

Day 2 of the Highlander work.  Had the summers put on, front brake service and the diff fluid changed out with synthetic.

Front brakes have lots of life, which is nice.

That should be it for a while.

The shocks are probably next. And then new plugs at 192k, not looking forward to that.

The control arms on the Gen1 Highlander are a massive PIA. The engine mounts are in the way of the control arm bolts so the engine needs to be shifted to access them.   The shop manual says 11.3 hours, which is nuts.

JK is under the knife getting her new clutch

How many k did you get out of that clutch ?

205k km. The actual clutch wasn't in that bad of a shape, the throwout bearing was starting to get very noisy, didn't want to have it go on me while in traffic. So if you are going to have the throwout bearing replaced, might as well do the clutch, they are cheap enough.
Lighten up Francis.....

Wow, is the new clutch ever freaking light. Like the pedal feels like its almost not connected and it shifts oh so smoothly. My intake gaskets were weeping pretty badly so they swapped those out as well. New front end and new clutch, thing drives like a dream.

^ Awesome!

OEM parts? Or did you upgrade?

After off-roading the Gladiator Rubicon I'm absolutely in love with it. I want one. I won't buy one, because it doesn't suit my lifestyle, but gosh darn is it ever cool!

I didn't get a chance to go the edmonton auto show this weekend because I wanted to see one in the flesh....errr...metal. All the videos I've seen and articles I've read make it seem like this would be a perfect purchase for me. Now just gotta get the wife on board  ;D

Rattlecanned the winter rims for the car and truck before I put them away for the summer. Figured I’d do it now as it probably would not get done when I go to put them back on in the fall. Things you can actually accomplish when you are retired . :D

The 2003 Civic has providing reliable transportation for the oldest boy for many months until it didn't ...

Interesting issue with the 2003 Honda Civic. Car died and all electrical except for horn and brakes lights out. Turns out the battery fuse was blown. Oddly it appeared just fine until I unscrewed and removed it - then it fell apart. The alternator died at the same time.

(middle bottom held by two screws)

The offending fuse. Now it needs a pick-n-pull alternator or to leave the Dent household (the wife's hates it due to extreme ugliness).

Took the blue coloured winter rim/tires off.

Speaking of dents the oldest boy hit a dumpster with it several months ago. New dent in door, had to replace the side mirror with a junkyard replacement.

Weather was good yesterday so my dad, brother and I spent a good portion of the day at my grandmother's place working on the cars.

-I got the Trans Am out, started right up and was on the road right away. Eventually drove it home and found a pinhole leak in one of the heater hoses, the hose was only about 3 years old (I did them when I did the heater core) so it looks like the hose had a manufacturing defect in it. So I replaced it (had the correct size on hand) and then gave it a nice wash and wax.

-My dad got an MGA coupe out of storage and up and running again, plus I think he fiddled with some interior bits.

-Brother got his XKR started up and swapped one of the front wheels for the spare...apparently the rim has a bend in it and needs to be sent for repair.

-I gave the Yellow MGB a wash to get the filth off of it

-Then I went for the Orange MGB and that's where the fun started....I had bought a new clutch slave cylinder for it and wanted to install it. 10 minutes to swap the part, then 3 hours of cursing trying to get it to bleed with no success. The clutch hydraulics are notoriously difficult to bleed on MGBs, and I remember fighting this same issue before with other cars....Tried everything, we could think of; mitivac, working the piston in the slave by hand, bench bleeding the slave, then re-installing with it full, nothing worked. Researched a few more 'tricks' to try next time, otherwise I am going to have to try swapping the rubber hose out (in case it's collapsing inside) which is probably the 2nd or 3rd most difficult job on an MGB (other contenders being the clutch itself and the heater box).

Wish I had the time on Saturday to work on the cars.  Worked 1/2 the day, and the other half cleaned the backyard and garage.

Looks like your making progress.  After they are cleaned up, what are you going to do?  Besides repairing the orange MG.

That's not your Escalade in the picture, is it your brothers or Dads?

Priorities man ;) Mrs.Firm actually had her wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday so she was pretty swollen on Saturday. I was lucky to get away for the majority of the day.....I did take over baby duty when I got home though.

The orange MGB will be 'done' within another month or two...I'll list that and hopefully move it. The yellow one I will get running and mobile, so it's not a barricade in the driveway, but it's a back-burner kinda project because it's a ton of work and I have almost nothing into it. My 21,000 mile Blue MGB is the one I want to get to, and I am hoping that if I can get the orange one done early enough in the season I'll have time to get the blue one out, get it plated and actually drive it some this year.

You're right, not my Escalade in the background, that's my brother's 03. He bought it after spending some time with ours...It's an Ontario truck so it's pretty crusty underneath, but for a beater (and he actually uses it like a beater) it's good.

Yesterday spent four hours detailing the wife's GS-350, then another couple doing the changeover to summers wheels/tires, then this happened...

Swapped the summer/all season tires back onto the Lexus. Pirelli Cinturato P7, such great rubber.

Also, no more "Low Tire Pressure" light like I had all winter. The LS 430 doesn't actually have pressure sensors, but instead uses speed sensors on each wheel to determine if a tire is low. For some reason, the winter tire/wheel setup, even at perfect PSI, was triggering this light the entirety of the season. A pi$$ off, really...

The sensor calculates, essentially, the rolling diameter.  Must be a different diameter?

You do know how to reset/set initial pressure, right??  The button that's difficult to reach?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Yup. So I set all 4 tires to the right PSI, hit the button to reset it, and it's fine for about ten minutes. Then the light would come back on. I basically lived all winter with that. Initially it drove me nuts so I kept checking the pressures religiously, but they were always fine. The tires weren't leaking at all, but something was triggering the sensor. Now that the summer setup is back on, I've put about 500km on the car and no light.
