Weather was good yesterday so my dad, brother and I spent a good portion of the day at my grandmother's place working on the cars.
-I got the Trans Am out, started right up and was on the road right away. Eventually drove it home and found a pinhole leak in one of the heater hoses, the hose was only about 3 years old (I did them when I did the heater core) so it looks like the hose had a manufacturing defect in it. So I replaced it (had the correct size on hand) and then gave it a nice wash and wax.
-My dad got an MGA coupe out of storage and up and running again, plus I think he fiddled with some interior bits.
-Brother got his XKR started up and swapped one of the front wheels for the spare...apparently the rim has a bend in it and needs to be sent for repair.
-I gave the Yellow MGB a wash to get the filth off of it
-Then I went for the Orange MGB and that's where the fun started....I had bought a new clutch slave cylinder for it and wanted to install it. 10 minutes to swap the part, then 3 hours of cursing trying to get it to bleed with no success. The clutch hydraulics are notoriously difficult to bleed on MGBs, and I remember fighting this same issue before with other cars....Tried everything, we could think of; mitivac, working the piston in the slave by hand, bench bleeding the slave, then re-installing with it full, nothing worked. Researched a few more 'tricks' to try next time, otherwise I am going to have to try swapping the rubber hose out (in case it's collapsing inside) which is probably the 2nd or 3rd most difficult job on an MGB (other contenders being the clutch itself and the heater box).
