Spent an hour and a half freezing outside paint correcting the hood on the DTS....It had sat in the driveway unused all week, and as a result of the ice storm, snowstorm and whatever else came through, had accumulated 3-4" of ice on the top surfaces that I could not remove. Used it Saturday night to go from Mississauga >> Oshawa and back, figuring that would help melt it, but the ambient temp was too cold and nothing budged.

This morning it was a bit warmer out and I drove it to a trade show in the city, and parked in the sun. When I came out I was happy to see that the hood was totally clear....except the ice had slid off and left a lot of big gnarly scratches. I was able to lift the rest of the ice off carefully, drove home, and then started working on the hood....I was able to get the scratches out, except for one particularly deep one....but not how I was planning to spend my Sunday afternoon.

Took it to an indie mechanic to install a set of NGK Iridium spark plugs. And before you guys ask why couldn't I do such a simple job myself, take a look at this:

I will later report on whether it made any difference.

It did seem like a thing to do over one summer weekend.  ;)

Come on...a weekend?

Buddy even said the book rate is only 1.5 hours and could be done in 45 minutes.

I'm guessing taking your time you could knock it out in 2-3 hours really taking your time.

I think the emphasis was on summer.

Yeah, that's the thing. This time of year the best possible outcome of such a DIY is I'd freeze my nads off and the worst I'd need a tow truck as well as hundreds if not thousands of $$ to convince a dealer to get it back in working order. Plus hundreds in lost work hours. It wasn't worth a gamble IMO.

Getting ready for my 100k service for the IS-F. LOL at the dealer wanting $25 per spark plug.

So I just bought the Denso upgraded version.

Interesting design. 3 straps. Extremely fine electrode. And note the secondary "electrode" anvil on the main strap.

Your F need plugs change at 100,000 km not 196,000?

It had been exactly a month since I washed the truck, and while it's been cold enough that it didn't get terribly dirty from road grime, there was an accumulation of ice, snow and dust on it.  So off to wand wash it went.  I would have rather just sent it through the touchless automatic wash, but it was closed due to the cold, so it had to be the wand wash.

Imagine that, in an entire month, we didn't have a single day where it was warm enough for the roads to be wet and get my truck dirty.

Finally got the oil pressure sensor sorted - it wasnt the sensor but a wire grounding on a heat shield making the readings go all over the place

Got my new headers 80% installed, but my mech had an issue with the bolt holes lining up on the head...has to do some modding to get them to fit over the studs. Oh well, in the loaner for the weekend I guess...

Again with the headers and lining up?

well the ports line up great with these Megan ones, but 2 bolt holes are off by just enough to make cross threading a real concern...so a little work is needed, no biggie

Changed oil and also installed Denso Iridium Racing spark plugs some people at RX8Club recommended yesterday.

Did a compression test with a rotary compression tester I borrowed while I was at it. Engine seems to be okay, but the numbers show it will have to come out at some point.

Also made it past 100,000 km.

Gave the 308 a touch-up wash yesterday, some grime on the side. Then on the way home in the evening from the city, decided to take some curvier backroads.

Leaving the commune limits, floored it. Minor curve but I kept my foot planted, shifted to 3rd, unleashing all 285Nm (torque is limited in 1st and 2nd). Yes, the wheel tugged a bit, no matter, keep on, shift to 4th. Flew straight thru the chicane at 120, then tapped the brakes and blipped down to 3rd for the sharper curve- narrow country road and prefer to stay out of the grass. Turned in, clipped the apex at 110, then gave another few seconds of throttle before scaling back. Alas, the next town limit approached........

French hatch indeed.  :drive2:

I stopped keeping track of my fill ups and mpgs/lper100's...on everything.  I've got 6+ yrs of data on the Fusion, 5+ on the F150 and 5-6 on the Sonic...maybe I've just given up on being anal??  Hmmm...straight after all...sorry Scaerio  ;D :P :run:...enough's enough though.  Who the fack cares anyway.  I've done it since I got my first car because my dad did it.  But why bother.  I need gas, I have to drive...it only serves as a reminder of how many thousands a year I spend on gas.  Which is way too facking much.  I hope the feeling of being free doesn't fade.

After years of not keeping track, I just use Fuelly now, which is pretty easy.  I usually just input the data on my phone right at the pump after I've filled (assuming nobody is waiting behind me).
