Took it into the shop.

Replaced leaking axle, power steering hose, crank sensor seal, control arm bushings, and patched a tire.

Found a new leaking boot on the other axle. Guess I know what I am replacing next time I am in.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

The JGC was making some crazy screeching noise from the right front this morning under hard acceleration... think I figured out the issue, lol!!!

^ Haha, after my truck sat out in the snow/rain/freezing rain, then the flash freeze afterward a couple of days ago it was making some really weird noises when i drove it the next day.  It actually felt like it had square wheels for the first few feet until the crusty stuff came off the tires.

Hoping the sun can get a bit of warmth on it now, that & the heat coming off the motor... hopefully melt it off by the time I go back up to the ski hill later this afternoon.

Used all 205 horses under the bonnet to overtake 6 cars + a tractor trailer carrying farm equipment.

Perhaps a bit sketchy at first. Rural road two lane with no shoulder, oncoming traffic about 800m ahead and closing, wasn't sure how many cars were in front of me before the slow load. 3rd gear, foot down, 1...2...3....4...5...6.....*focused on closing gap*....."yup I've got it".... tractor trailer.....back in.  :winner: #allezlesbleus
That's nuthin'.

Try overtaking with an 80 BHP Suzuki Jimny. Been there, done that.

bought a MC battery booster at CC at 40% off, do not want to be stranded with a dead battery - luckily when battery died in Mini during the cold snap, I was at the dealership

don't want to tempt fate twice

The GTI is at that age when little annoyances are starting to crop up. Last week I was fixing a leaky rear washer hose. Not a big deal, only cost 5 bucks for a new section of hose at Cdn Tire, but had to pull off a bunch of interior trim in the hatch to do a proper fix. Broke a few plastic mounting tabs in the process, but luckily everything still fits tight and rattle-free.

It’s plus 9 today, so I got after a rear brake dust shield that has been loose and rattling around. The mounting holes have been rusted through for a while, so I added some washers as a temporary fix a couple years ago, but now it’s totally fubar.

Probably should have bought a new one, but you have to pull the rear caliper, rotor and hub to get it on. For that matter, you have to pull all that to get the old one off ... unless you attack it with a grinder, hacksaw and hammer!  ;D

Try that with a closing speed of 200km/h (100 versus the oncoming car's 100) in the span of 600-800m, really probably closer to the shorter end. Another driver behind me attempted the same but had to abort.

When I had the BMWs in the US it was more nail-biting.

Started the process of getting the Mercedes ready for sale. It's still in storage, but took some photos including the documentation that identifies it as 50-state emissions ready...

Will be really sad to see it go.  :-[ :-[ :-[

like letting a beloved pet move on to another family...irrational, but it hurts all the same

I just ordered a correct set of headers and catalyst for my car. At least I hope they are correct given how much money I will be saving. No way I am giving BMW $1400+tax for a system. That is insane.

Will be ordering new tires Monday. Summers and winters.

Truck started fast flashing when signalling right turns today.  Got out to check it at my next stop and see that the lower rear flasher bulb is burnt.  Look inside the cap for an access panel and there is none.  ::) Looks like a job for the service dept.  Just another reason to hate Miranda caps.   >:(

Often times, the entire light assembly is screwed/snapped in.  I would check that out before taking it in for service.

EDIT;  Ugh, I see what you mean.  You gotta remove the entire cap.  Blegh.  That sucks.

I made that tail light!   ;D

It's NOT a job for the service panel.  IIRC, it's two 8mm bolts and the whole tail light assembly pops out.  30 seconds max.

If we're talking about your F-150.....
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I think the problem is that his service cap is in the way of the bolts...

Seems to be this way on the newer ones too:

So his cap extends into the area where the tailgate closes blocking those bolts??

Wow!!

Bad design with no access holes.
