I washed it!

Brig, take note: I was at the car wash at 6:15 am - a full 90 minutes before sunrise.   ;D

what car wash is open at 6 am???  The one by me doesn't open until 7am.  And that's a pretty low parkade you're in.

The Wave - 399 Goulet - is open 6 am to midnight, seven days a week.

Parkade clearance is 6' 2".

That's an interesting place.  Just can't see them allowing ppl to use a tire changer.  :o

The DIY Garage idea is great! Apparently there is one in Barrie too, but I couldn't find any in GTA. Strange!

Finally got Mrs.Firm's Firebird out for a good run while i had a few errands to take care of. Despite sitting for at least 6 weeks or so it fired right up. Filled the tank (actually averaged 9.8L/100km on the last tank), put some stabilizer in and parked it back in the garage. I don't really "store" it since I like to have it usable should we run into a jam (like one of the Caddy's goes down).

I guess I won't be going to the Wave, it's at the wrong end of town for me.

At 6' 2" I bet you won't find many NBA players in the parkade :rofl2:

Did the front brakes on Bella's 323i this afternoon, pads only, rotors were good enough still.

Replaced the oil pressure sensor on the DTS - original one died and was throwing false "low oil pressure" alarms - very annoying. The 'experts' on the internet said I'd need to either unbolt the engine mounts and lift the engine to get access, or remove the (difficult to get at) bolts holding the oil filter adapter to the block in order to get access.....But skinny arms and the right tool (elcheapo thin small channel locks) prevailed and I got it done in about 30 minutes without removing anything other than the oil filter.

Did a fresh oil change while I was there too - only had 2000kms on the old stuff, but I had the filter off anyway, so might as well.

It's true that the Northstar engines are a proper pain in the butt to work on.....but when they're good, they're sooo good. I did burn my arm pretty good, and then wrapped it with a rag and some tape to avoid further burns....

Here you can see the new oil pressure sensor, just above the engine mount.

Yeah, it's the shop area at our branch office in Vaughan - honestly, one of the best perks about working here.

That is a great perk!  You can use it anytime it's not being used for business?  So, evenings and weekends?

It's never used for business, it was a training facility, it didn't get used for that, so now it's 'mine' for the purpose of housing and working on the various truck builds and/or product testing stuff we do.

Swapped the tires on the Audi over the weekend. The e-tron was parked during our first cold & snowy week, but dd1 needed it for her interneship over a few weeks, so time to put the snows. Except...

My expertly manually torqued wheels had apparently been dismounted by the dealership last summer during the car's first service. Needed more grrrrmmphhh to get the bolts off, and of course, at the 4th wheel ... the wheel lock key broke. Tried a regular bolt with my little home compressor at its max setting (125 lb-ft), they don't budge.

Of course, it's Sunday. Vented  :stfu: :nono: :bang: :banghead:, had lunch, tried Costco. No spare locks, can't get the key to bite either. More  :stfu: :nono: :bang: :banghead:

Wasted a full morning of work driving against traffic to the dealership this morning. Good thing I had time to cool down. First, they insisted they had not removed the wheels for a brake inspection. Yeah, right  ::). Went calmly into a lesson on how I've been torquing my own wheels for the last 25 years. They removed the last lock with a double key, installed the last snow tire (I had installed the three others), removed the remaining 3 anti-theft bolts, supplied me with a new lock bolt set, did not install them at my request, supplied four oem wheel bolt caps for the new regular bolts that replaced the anti-theft ones, and offered a free wash. I declined (it's snowing, waste of my time), but had two Nespressos and free breakfast. No charge.

Reminds me of the wheel locks I had on my Explorer.  The tool snapped I went to Princess Auto to buy a set of those remover things, no luck.  Took it to a local garage the next Monday, they had to weld a bolt onto it to remove it.

Oddly enough, they were the ones who put the gd things on in the first place.  I asked them to replace the locks with normal nuts, and give me all the wheel locks, so I could throw them as far as I could, which I did.
