Washed and waxed all eight winter wheels - the Audi's VW alloys and the Ody's steelies, plus washed / waxed the van's wheel covers. Still not mounted though, but ready.

You use a specialty wheel wax by chance?

No, just std Turtle Wax. Should I?

Did the seasonal tire change on the Acadia. All seasons are down to between 4-5/32 all around and starting to show weather cracks. Time for new all season rubber in the spring.

Driveshaft was making noises in the CRV, it's one with the staked non-repairable u-joints.

Ordered a whole new one off Ebay for just over $200 delivered, arrived from California in a 10 ft long wooden box

That was way simpler and cheaper than expected.

That seems cheap!  How old is the CR-V again?

2002, so second gen. Our indie mechanic gave us the tip.

On my old Mazda pickup I had the same problem and a machine shop did some work and fitted it all, but a lot more money.

This has three new U-joints, new steady bearing, new everything. Seems to be working fine.

I have no idea how they make any money and ship the whole thing California-Tennessee-Ontario-Alberta for that price

Me either. The ecomm world, combined with cheap and easy access to off-shore parts has created a race to the bottom in the automotive parts industry; simple items from a manufacturing standpoint like driveline, rotors, etc are the hardest hit.

The Gen 1 Highlander can have driveshaft issues - rare, but happens - and the dealer charges THOUSANDS.  A non-OE one can be had for $300, a reman OE is $500.

That's crazy cheap.

Driveshaft for my Outback was also staked and replacement was about $800.    Did some research and replaced the joints myself for about $100.   I'd have done the same as you if I could have.

Ordered new winter boots; Michelin Xi3.  Installation date is November 17.

Yeah. The previous owner of my Highlander had the driveway driveshaft (and U joints) replaced by the dealer.

The part was $1700. All in it was $2100 after taxes.

Yeah, the dealer part price is heart-stopping.  It's an easy job, but the part, holy hell.

For that, I'd for sure have it done.

Put winters (WS80s) on the MDX. The all seasons are pretty much done so I won't even bother bagging them.

Brought my car in for its new winter boots.  Bought a set of Blizzak WS-80s.

The ride home this evening will tell the tale as to how they behave on dry / wet pavement.  No snow yet but the first snowfalls should be here in about a week or so.
