Took daughter’s corolla to a Mr Lube for an oil change.

The two cars ahead of me were a shiny Jag and a Mercedes C250.

I suppose you don't have any issues with the Mr. Lube you go to?  I can't get myself to do an oil change at those quick lube places after watching CBC marketplace.  I'd rather pay a bit more at my local indy shop.

How much do they charge for an oil change at Mr. Lube these days?

I finally washed both cars this evening.  I had been putting it off because of all the rain in forecasts, but a lot of them end up being false alarms.  Man all those door dings and scratches show when you wash a black car.

Yesterday I bought some used winter tires for the Highlander.

Blizzak DM-V2's with 13/32nds of tread remaining.  Basically new for $400. Score!

Yeah, I am pretty pumped.  They owner gave me his Michelin X-Ices but they are down to 5/32nds.  I could have squeeze one winter out of them but they wouldn't have been ideal.  I'll try to sell them but if I can't I'll use them for summers next year.

Well, after almost five years and 100k I finally put a front plate on the Cayenne.  Lynn got snagged by an unmarked mustang, $105 fine, experiment over.
I couldn't go out for more than 10 minutes in the 911 without one, so it was a good run
So you guys have Mustangs as undercover?

Around here, I only have to worry about Dodges...

And I will never understand your gripe with front plates... I think they are just fine.

She just saw an unmarked Charger, said it was probably that, not a Mustang.

I see no good need for front plates, useless and not required in much of Canada.  Hope Ontario follows suit

With mobile plate readers the new income generating tool for police, they'll do everything in their power to keep front plates.

Gotta keep the cash cow churning...
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I did last winter on DM-V2s, and WOW, they're fantastic.  More than live up to the Blizzak reputation.

If they're anything like the WS-80 I'll be happy.

One of the reasons we got the Highlander was to take it to work/the ski hill on snowy days. So it made sense to get decent tires.

I was saddened when I couldn't get the WS-80 in the right size, and had some apprehension about the DM-V2 because we love our WS-80s so much.  Unfounded worry, the DM-V2s are excellent.  The HL is an unstoppable mountain beast on them.  The difference between the previous Generals was startling.  The Altimaxes were good, the Blizzaks are amazing.

They were put to the test on some brutal days on the Icefields Parkway.

I've had a great experience with WS80.

I'm very tempted to try the Nokian Hakkapiilitta (sp?) just to try something new but it's quite a bit more expensive.

^^^  The WS-80's are a screaming bargain.  Premium snow tires at entry level prices.

Got the Higlander Krowned this afternoon.   Hopefully that extends its service life a little.  Hoping for 4-5 years out of it.

^I think you'll get more years than that outta it.

I cleaned up the engine bay in the 951 a bit, not perfect, but certainly more presentable for Friday night.

Before & after pics.

damn looks nice...gotta scrub the Alfa now! Make that chrome mirror-like!
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I had that exact thought six years and 210K-kms ago when I bought my HL.  I figured if after five years, if it had to be towed to the scrap heap, I'd have spent $10K plus running costs and that would be cheap, cheap driving.  I could walk away after five years and feel comfortable in what I'd spent.

Fast forward to today.  I am shocked that I've put that many kms on it and this much time has passed as the old gal feels barely more worn than the day I got 'er.  Now I'm thinking it won't be hard to get another five years and 150K (taking it to 500K) unless something major goes wrong, but based on the number of Gen 1 HL's I'm now seeing with 400-500K on them, it's very possible.

Gurgie, Porsche put the engine in your 944 in the wrong end!!   Are you sure it's a Porsche?  ;D

The 944 series were awesome handlers, really comfortable and held a lot of luggage.  Only vehicle I have actually driven that I could stretch my legs straight out.

They should re-introduce it.  :)

Thx, but it could be done A LOT better, I just don't have the patience to do so, ha, ha, ha! Tomorrow I'll give it a bath & then put on the car cover to protect it from the damn birds!
