Oh I'm giving er with those on, full on drifting some corners as the back end steps out. Thought a full tank of gas would give it a bit more grip, but no, lol!

Yes! It's what I used for years until I found something better just recently.
What was better

BG Synchro Shift II. Decided to try it after reading this. Harder to find than RP for sure but since it's not a service I do all the time, I'd use it again. Swapped out the RP in IQs car...and it was a bit slicker. BTW..their fuel treatment, BG44K, is also the best I've ever used..which, along with the article, made me want to try their Synchro Shift II.

Still, it wouldn't dissuade me from continuing to use or recommend RP.  It's great stuff and never a complaint over the years.

Have you ever used BG109 ?

Have you?

No . Heard that it cleans a lot of carbon and crap out of your engine. In certain circumstances it can free up stuck oil control rings and restore compression.
Or is it just snake oil ?

It's good stuff.

But I use Auto-RX for what you're looking to do.

So I got the alignment done today.  The van doesn't really drive any differently, but he made a couple of small adjustments, and just confirmed that everything is tight and good to go.

The mechanic did point out that one of the rear tires has been patched on the sidewall.  This must have been done by the previous owner, because all my patches have been tread.  Sidewall patching is a big no-no.  And to top things off, the rear tires are the ones that will be heavily loaded for our big trip.  They HAVE been fine on all our previous trips...but still...it makes me nervous.

So anyway, I'm going to ask around for pricing to replace the two rear tires at this time.  If I get something decent back, I may bite.  Replacing two tires isn't really in my budget right now, as it is going to eat into our trip budget, but it doesn't hurt to get pricing, and if its good, maybe I'll bite.  I dunno.  The four tires are due to be replaced in the spring anyways.  I just don't really want to pay for them NOW.

Swap the rears to the front? Any better that way?

The fronts aren't great either...there's cracking between the treads on all four tires.  Like I mentioned before, they're old tires, due for replacement in the spring anyways.

Chances are we'll go on our trip and have zero issues with the current tires.  They haven't been unreliable so far, but the fact that they are quite old has been at the back of my mind since we decided to go on this roadtrip.  Two new tires would be great peace of mind, but I'm not sure if that's a luxury I can afford at the moment, as I never budgeted for it in our trip planning.  Oh Well, I'll see.

I wouldn't think getting a cheap pair of tires of Kijiji would be hard for something as popular as a GC. I mean hell I got 5 rims and basically brand new tires for $500. Check Facebook buy and sell sites for your area as well. Someone might be selling a set of 4 for cheap.

Nothing on Kijiji of interest...

Polished my headlights. The tops of them have a lot of scratches so I use some of Meguiars to do the job.

Turned out alright. Not the best but the scratches are definitely gone.

Good weekend for car stuffs.

I washed the red Firebird and gave it a nice coat of wax - used up the last bit of Mequiars Tech Wax 2.0 (which is one of the better widely available single stage wax IMO) and took some photos for insurance (moving off DD status and onto Hagerty).

Took Baby Firm to his first car show - just one of those weekly cruise-in deals at the Canadian Tire on the Queensway. He stayed awake the whole time, which made for a nice sleep that night :)

A couple weeks ago when I did the rear e-brake on the Escalade I noticed that one of the rear caliper brackets had a seized pin....I tried a bit to free it up, but not wanting to break it and take the truck out of service for weeks I left it alone and ordered a new bracket and pin set....So I took it all back apart again today to replace the bracket. Hopefully i don't have to touch those damn rear brakes again for awhile.

Then I ran some errands in the T/A, with the T-tops out....which felt freakin great! Got home and as I was putting the car away got a couple photos with the baby.
