I'm sure there's some 944 owner bitching like hell that it only lasted that long.  I loved PCA meets and listening to people gripe.

He's going to be excommunicated from the PCA because that tailpipe is not stock-looking (or something).    :rofl2:
The stock piece to fix it includes a new muffler & is $1k US, fack that!! Will weld this on & that'll be it.

Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

"yea, you don't really deserve to own a Porsche if you can't properly maintain it with OEM parts" says every old PCA member....

The best and worst club I've ever been part of.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

The best and worst club I've ever been part of.

That really sums it up.  Some super cool car guys and a bunch of anal-retentive jag-offs that obsessed over nothing.

Some shithead told me that my 911 didn't come with a Carrera sticker and it was 4mm out of position or something stupid.  I then find out he's one of the guys who takes his 911 out only about 5 times..PER YEAR.

I hated a great number of PCA people.

We had a small cadre of guys that had built their own neat cars, like making their own 914-6 and stuff like that, and HOLY HELL, the backlash from some members.  Thankfully, the anal guys rarely came to track events as well, heaven forbid you'd actually drive the car really hard, yo.

We had this guy that had stuffed a 911 engine into a Westie, omg, it was awesome.  He also had some sweet old Porsches, but watching that VW van ripping down the highway howling out it's 200+hp was just sublime.

Then the Porsche sales manager from the local dealer would come out and act like he was Ferry Porsche himself.  He was the WORST.

Wow, I just checked the dealer staff and he STILL works there.

Washed it again today. Wow, I think that’s twice already this month!  :fall:

And ordered a bunch of parts to fix that intake manifold issue. Even if I did get it covered under warranty (and that was by no means certain) I just didn’t want to deal with the hassle of two separate trips to the city. Would rather just do it myself, and since there’s other stuff I wanted to do at the sane time, it should still work out cheaper.

Ended up getting the fuel injectors from Rockauto, new intake manifold, diverter valve, and PCV valve from German OEM Parts (Canadian co., first time ordering from them), clutch bleeder block and misc hardware from ECS Tuning, and a shifter kit from Dieselgeek. Just need to get some valve cleaner chemicals locally.

I was really close to ordering a new water pump as well, but it was over $300 and I just couldn’t do it. They’re a known issue on these cars, but mine has been perfect so far. Still, I’ll have everything apart and this would be the time to replace it... Might just pick one up after all.  :-\

Not sure when I’ll have the time to do it, but at least I’ll be ready. Car runs fine and the check engine light hasn’t been on for a few days now, but I’m sure it will come back.

If you got the Sigma 6 speed shifter, you will LOVE it.

^^ Yeah, I’ve been hearing that everywhere. Looked into it years ago, but never got around to picking one up.

I actually had a guy offer to give me his APR shifter kit 3-4 years ago (he’d sold his GTI but still had the shift kit), but I politely made excuses and said no thanks. Figured if I’m going to do it, may as well do it right.

Yea, I've been talking about that product since I bought one for my TT.  It's great!  A bit fiddly to get it perfectly "tuned".  But once there, it's soooo much better than stock.

I'd also highly recommend a weighted shifter ball too.  This is the one I had: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Forge-MotorSport-FMBK-6-speed-matte-black-BIG-shift-Knob/282663572912?hash=item41d00fd5b0:g:SFAAAOSwQm9Zw9uZ

Though my preference now is the Raceseng knobs:  https://www.raceseng.com/

^^ Not really a fan of aftermarket shift knobs. I really like the stock one, so am planning just to leave it be.

Did you try yours with and without the weighted shift knob? I’m assuming the Sigma 6 works fine without a weighted knob, but even better with?

Yes, even better with...but will work fine with the stocker.

IMO, every shorty shifter works better with a weighed shifter.

YOu putting the shifter on yourself?  There's a good Youtube video on how to do it properly.  Put some synthetic into the tranny too.

^^ The plan is to do it all myself. I already looked at the install videos on the Dieselgeek website and it seems pretty straightforward. I’ve heard about people having adjustment issues, so I’ll look into it some more when the time comes.

Hadn’t really planned to change the tranny oil again. I did it 3 years and around 50k km ago. Can’t remember for sure, but think I probably just bought more OE tranny oil from the dealer. Pretty sure that would have been synthetic.

Honestly, I’m not too fussy about all this. I think the car shifts perfectly fine as it is - I just figure it might be fun to add some goodies while I’ve got it apart. Same with that ECS clutch block I bought. Been curious about it for a while, so figured what the heck.

I've driven a couple GTIs never thought of them as poor shifting.  No S2000, but nothing is!  As FWD cars go, pretty good.

Not poor...but I didn't find them "good" either.

Sounds like you're all set then!  Should be fun wrenching on it.  It's really not bad...just kinda take you time, tweak, go!

Am interested to hear your thoughts.  Although the last thing I recommended (tires?) I don't think you liked that much!    :rofl2:

forgot to take a pic, but my jeep was looking all kitted out this weekend... had the roof entirely off, a canoe strapped on the top, my bikes on the rack on the spare, and the whole family aboard... did really look good. looked like an ad for jeeps being the suburban commando.
