Fack...my car AC wasn't freezing cold. Got out my 134a recharge kit...only to find compressor not cycling. My bum is sore already...

Do you mean you recharged it and it's still not cycling?  Or is it not cycling so you didn't recharge it?

There's usually a low pressure switch and it won't cycle unless it's somewhat charged
It was already somewhat charged (on the low end of charged)....no cycling. :(

I'd probably try topping it up before throwing money at a new compressor....just in case. There's also a bunch of :censor: to check before condemning the compressor; pressure switch(es), power circuit, compressor clutch. The compressor in my T/A is 33 years old and works fine, they can hold up well.....Sonoma is on compressor #3, so not all of them i guess.

Is there a Sanden kit for your car?

^ I had a Ford Probe GT once, every winter the AC clutch wire would corrode off and it wouldn't work in the spring.

Try jumping over all the electrics and power the clutch directly and see if it pulls in.  Also, sometimes you can just buy a clutch if that's all that's wrong.

Finally got around to getting the Sonoma and SLK outta the garage for the first time this year. Quick fluid check, unplug the battery maintainers, air down the tires and both were good to go. SLK was due for an E-Test, and thus had an expired sticker, so I ran it over to the closest drive-through e-test place and got it tested...Will have to get a sticker this week.

What a wonderful, wonderful car.

I'd put a few period correct JDM touches on that car and drive it.

If there's ever a super slim chance he ever sells, please let me know.

Not mine but I took my BIL's 1973 Celica GT for a nice long spin. It's awesome driving old cars. Hilarious the differences between a modern sports car like my Camaro and this. Even though it's slow as balls in comparison it's still a lot of fun. Very involving as nothing is power assisted. It's a 5 speed. It was his dad's and his dad bought it when he as 19. He passed away last year and so it's staying in the family.

I think I finally really get the appeal of some of these older cars. Smells like gas and an old boat, you have to concentrate, you feel the sights and sounds, and cruising on a sunny day is a lot of fun!

Fantastic car!  I wonder what something like this would currently sell for?

That Celica is gorgeous. I love the styling touches on the interior.

Love that Celica and it looks amazing. Had a friend that had one and was great at drifting it in the winter. Fun times.

Celica looks great! Modern cars are great, but on a nice Sunday like today, there's no replacement for an old car like that, not for me at least.

I love all kinds of cars.  Cars like a GT-R or Camaro that have the capability of basically race cars have their appeal, as do older cars that lack any sort of modern amenities.

That Celica is fantastic.  45 years old?  Damn.

That Celica is beautiful!

Did his father buy it at 19, or was your BIL 19 when his father got it?

I bought one brand new, 1974 GT in the medium brown (looks to be the same colour) from Weitzes Motors way back when they were on Yonge Street. It was a great car, but couldn't handle Toronto winter salt. The top of the front fenders were rusting out after only two years. There isa ledge that runs along the top of the wheel well that collects salt and crap, and that resulted in the fenders bubbling from the inside very quickly. Mind you, back then I parked at work in a heated underground parking garage, which we all know now, is the kiss of death with salt buildup and subsequent melting.

My first brand new car was a 1972 Corolla 4 speed Coupe in persimmon (burnt orange colour) with the OHV 1.6L in it. Loved that car. I had Hooker headers installed on that car. Sounded like a buzz saw.  :rofl2: I forget what I owned after the Celica, (it may have been the Sunbeam Tiger i bought used from Bert Weitzes), but somewhere along the line I bought a demo 1977 (76?) 5 speed Corolla Liftback from Weitzes Motors, but it was nowhere near as fun as the Corolla Coupe or Celica GT.

A little roadster drive out to the village of Seba Beach. Secondary roads the whole way. Most I had never been on before. It was a very fun drive. And everyone drove their cars the proper way, with the top DOWN. ;D
