Changed the battery in the CRV last night, would not start even after charging and failed the load tester. Four year old battery, checked for amp leakage. Seems on the high side:

Will have to retest after letting it sit for a half hour or so

67mA seems reasonable to me for a modern vehicle.   I often have to charge marginal batteries if left undriven for  2 weeks or so,

Weather held out the last couple of days; it wasn't exactly warm, but tolerable. I went to wash the floor mats in the Escalade and noticed the carpet was damp under the passenger front mat. Pulled all the underside of the dash apart, and removed the blower motor, to find that the source was some dried out weatherstripping around the fresh air inlet. Replaced and siliconed all that, put everything back together and dried it out.....Then I washed it.

I took the T/A out for a good drive  ;D Stopped by Vantage's place and got his 560SEL back up and running; terminals on the fuel pump relay had corroded. 15 minutes of diagnostics and a bit of sandpaper and it was all good.

Today I decided to swap the Firebird to summer shoes; way early I know, especially with snow forecasted into April, but I don't *need* to use the car when the weather is bad, and I like to get ahead of things....Otherwise when nice weather does show up I am scrambling to get everything done.

You're a busy kid, Firm!

Washed a few weeks worth of grime off the Sonata.

Changed the license plate bulbs on the IS300.

A bit more involved than expected.

4-5 years seems to be what a battery will last for these days.

The battery in the GTI is 8 years old and still going strong. No plans to replace it any time soon.

I think it’s partly because it’s a good battery (Varta), and partly because I’ve never, ever let it run down. And the car was a factory order, delivered to me right off the boat/train/truck, so nobody else had a chance to kill the battery, either.

Didn’t tooscoops say it’s a common thing to have to boost batteries on cars that sit on the lot? So that new car you are buying comes with a compromised battery right from the start. No wonder they don’t last. :P

Drove the Miata for the first time this season with the top down. As it was only 6 celsius I thought i'd test that new heater core. Put on 300 or so km's.

Changed oil, spark plugs and tires Friday and yesterday.

And I broke a plastic hose joint in the process and have to wait until Tuesday to get a new one from the dealer. No other parts stores have something like it.

Looks like nothing more than a hose connector?

Could get one at home depot or Canadian tire..in either brass or white plastic to hold you over until proper part comes in

Brought the girls out of storage and got them ready for the upcoming driving season.

I hand washed the S2000 and the 560 SEL, and did oil changes on both as well as basic checks to make sure they're ready for the season. Firm was nice enough to help me get the 560 started after a sketchy fuel pump relay issue was causing a no-start. She's running well now though, and now has a historic plate.

LS400 is getting some new tires this coming weekend, the all-seasons need to be replaced. I've put about 43,000km on it since I got it in September and she's running beautifully. Volvo 240DL is likely getting sold later this year, but is still running like a top.

Our store will install a new battery if the unit has to be boosted. The vehicles are supposed to be put back into "shipping" mode after the PDI is done and then put back into "customer" mode at delivery. Salesman don't or won't put them into customer mode and come crying into the service dept saying this doesn't work and that doesn't work.

With all the travelling (flying too) you do, press vehicles, surprised you did 40k on the LS in 6 month.

Personally I've probably done 3,000km. Others have been piling miles onto my car.

Finally got around to tearing into the Clubman since I had an unfortunate run-in with a bunch of hard packed snow and ice at the end of my parents' driveway disguised as a snow drift on Christmas Day. It popped out one of the park assist sensors which has been dangling in the bumper ever since, and broke the washer fluid tank. The park assist sensor snapped right back into place but I need to order a new washer fluid tank.

I found instructions online on how to take it apart so it wasn't too bad. Just kind of a pain to remove the wheel well liner to get access to everything.

I replaced two hood struts with new Monroe ones from Rockauto. It was very easy with just a flathead screwdriver used to pop the clips out.
Now the hood won't close and hit my head when it's windy!

I wanted to change the burnt out a DRL bulb, but decided to wait for a nicer weather as it started raining harder.

I prefer hood struts, as opposed to the rod.  But that is a problem, they can fail.  Luckily the ones in the piece of :censor: Entourage are fine.
