Hit 175k on the Fusion.  FGC...facking good car.  ;D

just hit 40k on my wrangler. the last one i sold at 38k, the one before at only about 27k... so i've driven over 105k in a willy's...

my last one I owned just got traded in... we were doing the safety and they decided it needed a tranny! the tech decided it was "bumping out of 4th gear".... like i complained about numorous times about when it was mine and I got "no fault found".
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Even with a bad trans that Jeep was probably still worth more than 3 of my cars.  :P

yeah, the customer loved it and traded it in for an automatic as his wife "can't drive stick"... i wonder if maybe she just couldn't drive that one? when i sold it i told the buyer that 4th was finicky, and he said he never had issues once he was made aware that he needed to be more "direct" with that shift.

but yeah... holds it's value crazy... combine that with the increase in sale price on these over the last few years and it makes the numbers look insane. i have it on the lot for 2k more than i paid for it in 2015 when new.

yep warranty. he had an extended one put on thankfully.

he stuck with jk. just wanted to keep his wife happy. kept his payments the same on basically the same car but two years newer half the kms and auto. had to add a couple years to the loan, but he was fine with that.

None of my tranny parts are in yet, all in transit.

So, I thought I'd look at my vibrating Outback, had it on a hoist but didn't see anything, hoped it was tires,  but now it's squeaking in reverse at the right frequency for a u-joint in the driveshaft, which was the suspect part anyhow. Changed tires as well and still vibrating on harder acceleration or over 80kph.
Problem is, the driveshaft is not a serviceable part,  so u-joints aren't usually listed as a replacement part, you're supposed to buy a complete driveshaft, cheapest I found is Rockauto at $500CAD plus $105CAD delivery. DORMAN 936900
Subaru DIY guys have discovered a couple of u-joints that work with a little filing, so tomorrow I'm seeing if I can get those, or if any of the local driveshaft rebuilders can do it for reasonable money.

Anyone have better info?   2003 Outback VDC

Was tired of studying.  So I decided to tidy up the inside of both vans.  I also vacuumed them.  Not an amazing job, but I only had 2 hours.  Kids like to "help" too.  Redeemed some points, and took them through the car wash.   So they are decent now.

My days of crawling under cars are long gone, so I had the dealership do it for me. Swapped off the snows, replaced a seeping water pump (under warranty), and clean and lube the brakes front and rear. Even got'er washed. Just like new again!

Replaced the heater core on the miata. The old one started to leave a film on the  windshield the past couple of years, didn't really develop a a full on leak into the interior.
Most cars this is a crappy job because you have to take your dash apart. In a first or second gen miata you can gain access to the core if you cut one of the copper pipes.  A fellow miata owner on the internet described the process here. https://did-it-myself.com/replacing-a-94-97-miata-heater-core/
Worked like  a charm. Core should be good for another 28 years. ;D

Saved money doing it myself as the repair would probably cost more than half of what the car is worth.

Heater core jobs are a favorite of mine. Years ago I discovered that my long skinny arms give me the ability to do 3rd gen F-body heater cores without dropping the dash. After doing two, I could do the job in about 45 minutes, all by feel. At the time (10-ish years ago), the cars were more readily available on the market, and anything with a dead heater core was usually significantly discounted because nobody wanted to drop the dash. I bought 3 more cars, all with bad heater cores, replaced the cores and flipped the cars. Good times.  ;D

did some research to find a local oil filter that would fit on my Alfa. Very difficult considering how common the filter is in Europe.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I probably wouldn't have done it myself if the dash had to be removed to get at it. That info I posted made it super easy.
Those heater cores are getting harder to get unless you pony up for 700 dollars from the dealer. I ended up getting mine at Part Source for much cheaper.
The newer one is aluminum and not copper. Probably could have looked for someone who could recore it but would have ended up being just as much.Ahh
the fun of old cars that actually get driven.  ;)

A few years ago I did a Volvo 240 heater core. Fun times!

I imagine Miata parts are more $, but the last heater core I did, probably 2 years ago for my T/A cost me ~$60 at PartSource, plus a few bucks for coolant and new hoses. So all in <$100.

I did have the heater core in my Sonoma replaced at a shop and I think the bill was like $700+, but it was the middle of winter, and the dash needed to come out (believe me, I tired), so I bit the bullet. This was probably like 2008ish.

After fighting to get at a few car heater cores replacing the one on my old F150 was a magical experience, as it was basically bolted high up to the back of the engine bay. Could not  have been easier. I'm sure it is buried in the new ones along with the rest of the engine

Changed the battery in the CRV last night, would not start even after charging and failed the load tester. Four year old battery, checked for amp leakage. Seems on the high side:

Will have to retest after letting it sit for a half hour or so

4-5 years seems to be what a battery will last for these days.

^^  I changed a heater core on a 2500 late 80's Suburban and it took me 45 minutes (no AC piping to deal with).  I changed a core in a 89 Town Car that my wife drove and it took me 2 1/2 days and then another 1/2 day figuring out why the AC would not work (vacuum hose hooked up wrong  :-X).  The Town Car required steering shaft out, dash, the works.  But still I was dealing with phillip screws and old tech and no air bags.  I won't try these days.
