Chaos, may I suggest leasing a base model diesel XE Jag for the next three years? Give time for the EV market to ramp up. The diesel will excell at your long commute. I only got 103 km out of an eGolf this winter, and that's with moderate urban highway use and warm parking during the day!

The little kitty fits your Alpha - SAAB "Euro yet different" tastes IMHO. A neighbor bought a base one, black on black. From my experience with the larger XF 2.0d, you should be able to get the lighter car in the fives on highway trips (my Golf TDI would go down to 4.1).

The EV market is a pipe dream...

The Chinese and EU will determine what happens in the near future, while the US drags its knuckles around for the next few years.

Renewed the plates on everything, then went around in installed all the stickers. I usually take the opportunity to remove the plate and frame and give them a good cleanup/wax.

Yesterday was warm-ish, so I started the Trans Am for the first time since Christmas....Started on the first crank after priming the carb with a couple of throttle pumps. Drove it around for about a half hour and noticed that the choke wasn't coming down off the second step high idle. By that point I was losing daylight, so it'll have to wait for another opportunity to check it out.....Hopefully it's just a gummed up choke linkage or something, there aren't too many things that can cause that all of a sudden, it's just a matter of tracking it down; with time I don't have :(

^Solved that. It was a sticky choke linkage. Hit it with some carb cleaner and we're all good. It's cool and windy here, but the roads are dry so I took it out for some errands.
Also replaced a front corner marker bulb in the Escalade.

New battery in one of the key fobs.

I finally got a new battery for the key fob of our Subaru, I had actually forgotten it has remote starting.

Nice. That should make a big difference in ride quality. What vehicle is that? Mitsu?

Uh oh! Problem with the LS at 247k!

Had the Check Engine light come on. For good measure, it tripped the VSC warning too.

Ran the code...catalytic converter efficiency for bank 2 is off.

There's either a small exhaust leak..or a bad O2 sensor IMO.

That cat code (p0420 or 30)  is usually the cat and not the O2 sensor. If the readings aren't that bad there's a workaround some people use.

I've not had a bad cat yet with that code. Fingers crossed!

Always an exhaust leak or O2 sensor. I can measure O2 voltage real time...just need to know what value to look for.

If that checks, I look for exhaust leak.

No exhaust leak and good O2 sensor? I'll move to the cat.

I'm not sure why, but with Toyota models, when a CEL is tripped, it disables the TRACS/VSC system.  The VSC light is on not due to a fault, but because it's been disabled by the OBDII system when a code was logged and the CEL was triggered.  It's regardless of code, too.

heh inferior electrics if a CEL disables other systems! - when an Italian car trips a CEL, it is just yet another blinking light on the dash. Nothing is disabled, nothing is wrong.  :rofl2:
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

With an Italian car the other stuff is already broken anyway, so why bother having the systems work together?

My HL is going to look like Fob's Mitsu in the spring, once I get the Miata out.  I'm going to refresh most of the suspension this year.  The old gal has served me well on logging roads and backcountry trails and on mining roads in Alaska and she can have some shiny new bits.

The CEL on my Tundra tripped once due to a failed power steering pressure switch. Nothing else was disabled.

We passed 1000km on the Polo today, the initial run-in period stated in the owner's book. So I opened up the throttle and used sport mode.

Gotta love the warble you get from an inline-triple  :lick:

On the Subarus, if your CEL comes on, cruise is disabled.
