Your in Ottawa, should be a indie that does German cars for a better price.  It's not like the car is in warranty..

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Car is still under CPO BMW warranty, but I believe gaskets and seals are not covered.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I have a recommendation for an indie, too, if the other one doesn’t pan out.

Check the oil today & tomorrow, now that temps are half decent here in Ottawa.

I took it for a drive today and checked. It's still at the "Half" mark.

Not exactly the right thread, but close enough.  Didn't want to create a new thread.

My father in law has a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium.  We went to their house Tuesday for supper.  Noticed it wasn't in the driveway, he said he dropped it off for service at 8am.  For an oil change, and has an issue that when the car comes to a stop, the engine shuts off, but doesn't restart automatically, he has to push the button.  He hasn't received an update all day, calls the dealership after supper, they are closed!  They kept the vehicle the whole day with no updates.

He went to the dealership Wednesday morning, and they were still working on a fix.  So they gave him a Chevrolet Cruze (yeah that's right from Ford dealership) as a loaner vehicle.  Near the end of the day, they called him, stating they still need the vehicle.  He went back, and asked for a more equivalent loaner vehicle.  Don't know what that is yet.

All I can say is what a bunch of morons.  This is their 3rd Escape from the same dealership.  They also have an F-150 from the same dealer.   Not sure if their vans were from there.  But at least 4 vehicles purchased and serviced at this dealership, and this is the treatment he gets.

The dealership should have loaned him an Edge, try to impress them with that, something they will want for next vehicle purchase...

On the flip side, my neighbor does all the service himself.  But his wife's Equinox had a recall.  They were out of Equinoxes to loan her, gave her a 2016 Cadillac SRX for 2 days.  So a guy that bought one used vehicle at a dealership, and does no service there, gets a nice loaner...

I will update, as I may visit them to watch the Canada WJC gold game there.

That's pretty shitty. A Chevy loaner from a Ford dealer is ridiculous....Unless that Cruise is intentionally awful and they're hoping it'll make customers swear off GM for good......might work  :rofl2:

I remember when my SLK was newer (<10 years old, lol) I used to get it serviced at my local MB dealer. They'd either make excuses for why they didn't have a loaner available or offer up a Smart. I always refused the Smart telling them I'd rather walk.

Ridgeline got:

oil and filter change
transmission fluid drain and fill (3.5L)
transfer case oil drain and fill

Completed in 40 mins flat while listening to second period of Flames game.

The benefit to owning a vehicle for years and ears is the maintenance becomes second nature. I could do it in my sleep.

You mean you didn't need a computer to reprogram your car to take the new tranny fluid??

Ridgeline fits in a heated garage?

Those idiots - I stopped taking Mrs. Railtons old Escape there after they left the oil cap off the engine and left a few hand tools in the engine compartment after service work done. They wanted to finish in a hurry that day!

My wife's family.  Doesn't like change.  It so annoying.  I ask him why take it there, because it's the closest dealer to the house, and been doing it for years.   Book the same campground, every year.  The same dishware, full of scratches since the 80's.   And they have money.  They finally got rid of the wood panelling in the basement 2 years ago.

Knowing my father in law, he will apologize to them or something.

Both vehicles got new wiper blades the other day, I picked up more of the cheap Michelin ones from Costco....so nice to have fresh blades during freezing rain, snow, etc.  These are so cheap I'll always replace them come November each year.

My wife is pushing to get me to sell the BMW for something more family friendly....she wants a minivan but doesn't want to give up her car.  Guess I will start looking at used Sienna/Odyssey soon.
