Put a K&N air filter into the GC & put new Michelin wipers (Costco ones) on both the GC & 323i.

Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

A couple of weeks ago I put a new set of Michelin wipers (also from Costco) on my F150 and one of them failed yesterday.  By failed I mean the wiper's metal frame started rubbing on the windshield.
Just a fluke I guess, since we've had the same wipers on my wife's Tracker for over a year with no problems.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kickboxing.

Took a 400km daytrip today, to do some exploring in the "forgotten" corner of Virginia. Stumbled across excellent roads, scenic views, and no one else. I'd go tens of kms without meeting another car on the road. Also went to a state park......and saw all of 3 other people there.

The isolation wasn't so surprising, but still remarkable at how long it takes to travel a relatively short distance given the difficult terrain. Roads really can only run along the valleys; the few crossings across the ridges were obviously difficult to engineer and not so easy to drive. Nonetheless, the roads running in the valleys had a nice flow and corners......just the sort of grand touring the 3er is the best at.

Picked up one of my 911s in Virginia.

Really enjoyed the scenery and roads there...though I was warned the cops are over zealous there so I was careful to stay within the limits.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

This is true, but where I ventured (Scott County, VA), it's kind of like where I live in NC. The legal limit is 90km/h unless otherwise posted, but no one's checking off the main highway because you're lucky if you can get up to that speed. Sometimes you'll go over a blind crest that hangs a sharp left or right immediately after.

Replaced front brake pads with my four year old. Great fun!

Working on cars with kids is great.  My daughter and I did a ton of work on her Forester this summer.  She learned lots, and just as importantly we had a great time together.

Swapped the new Blizzak WS80s onto my wife's car yesterday. Super easy to do because the short wheelbase means you only need to jack it up once on each side. And 15" wheels with 175s are pretty light.

Drove the MDX to downtown Toronto for the first Santa Claus parade for the kids.  MDX survived the downtown unscathed.  I could swear that it was the widest car in the underground parking lot.   ;D
I somehow didn't mind the crazy slower-than-walking speed of the downtown traffic getting out.  Kids were relatively quiet in the back with the DVD playing, and we had plenty of time left for our next agenda item (Christmas photo shoot).  I did 12.1L/100KM. Not bad.

Agreed, I got to teach him all the different names of tools, car parts, etc. He even helped me put the wheel lugs back on. I think he has the most fun riding up and down on the jack!

Needed to move the MX-5 closer to garage wall for its winter slumber.

Had time for a long lunch today, so took it for a good 45 minute run in 11 degree sunshine.
Then moved it closer to the garage wall.
Turn out the lights the party's over. . ....

Took the shocks off my 97 F150 yesterday.  The truck has 340,000 km and the shocks have never been replaced.  :o

Were they easy to take off?  Surprisingly, it wasn't too difficult.  The top part of one of the front shocks did break off while I was undoing the top  bolt, though.   Rust will do that.  ;D

I'm replacing them is KYB gas shocks off of Amazon.

Drove the GTI for the first time in over a month. It's going back to VW in three weeks. Still a great car.

Putting the snows on the G today . The shop that I normally use for the changeover stripped one of the splined lug nuts this past Spring. Luckily they sell replacement packs at CT for $9.99

Just make sure the angle on the bottom of the lug matches...they aren't all the same.

Yup, 60 degrees - perfect.
Got them all mounted today. Now, hopefully we won't get any appreciable snowfall here for another month...or two (fingers crossed)

Agreed!  That design has aged really well.     There's an older model down the road from me that the owner keeps in immaculate condition.
