Upgraded the winter look from "basic" to "ratchet".  ;D

My daughter picked up some hubcaps for me. She didn't like the black steelie look apparently. These Walmart specials were $45 for four. We'll see if they last the winter.

Looks alright...and that's really kinda sweet.  She living with you in SK again?  Maybe I missed that.

Yes, she came out for the summer and decided to stay. Which was a surprise, frankly. But it's working out very well. She's reconnected with her friends and is loving school again.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

That's awesome.  The missus and I all already planning a trip to Banff to visit the kid over the Nov school break (we have a five day break in the fall here) - easing our pain of her moving away.

Her heart is in the right place. When it is from your child, best gift ever.

Damned right.  Every time he drives the car now he can be reminded of his generous and caring daughter.  That's freakin' awesome.

Went to my mum's to put her X-Ice Latitudes on her Land Rover, and at the same time, put my Blizzaks on my van.  It was easier than doing it in my driveway, as my dad has a 3-ton jack and air tools.

That's what I need for my MDX changeover, but I'm going to do it the cheap way and use the scissor jacks from the MDX this year.  It took 1.5 hour for the civic, I'm hoping it'll take a little less as it'll be second time doing it.
1.5 hrs on a civic ??? Did you have a nice nap between wheels
It was my first time using a scissor jack, or any jack, for that matter.
Since it was my first time, I took my time making sure things line up correctly, and 1.5 hr was including time to take out every little rock out of the all seasons.
I will look into using my impact driver to get the scissor jack up to the frame when I do the MDX.
The weather isn't getting cold enough on a consistent basis to warrant the change yet, though.

Got the Miata ready for winter.  Realized, oh, crap, it's only got 1/4 tank of fuel.  Had to go fill it up.  It's snowing, of course.  Had to take a running start at getting up my not-at-all-steep driveway.  Summer tires SUCK.

Put the winters on the GTI yesterday. Also took care of a broken brake shield that’s been rattling for a while. A proper fix would have been way too much work (caliper carrier needs to come off, and rear shock has to come off to get enough leverage on the caliper carrier bolt) so I managed to barely sneak in there and get a washer under one of the bolts that holds it on. Should be good for a while, at least.

Yukon got its winters today, then hauled all the summer tires to the car wash for cleaning.

Yeah, A/S 3+. Only put around 6,000 km on them so far, but I guess they’re ok. They were 7-8/32” when I took them off, so a fair bit of wear for the mileage (they’re 10/32” new.)

But, whatever. I get to drive the GTI so little that they’ll still last me 3-4 summers.

Yea, those came out after I had my Pilot Sport A/S 3.  I've heard the "+" version isn't as good...which would be a real shame.

^^ Really? I’ve heard that the 3 was terrible in snow, and if that’s the case, why even bother? Just get a summer tire.

3+ is supposed to be same as the 3 in dry/wet, but better in snow. I’ve had them in some wet/light slush at barely above freezing temps, and they seemed pretty decent. Never tried them on real snow or ice.

Or did you just mean that the wear is supposed to be worse?

I've had mine for two years now and I love them on my 128i. Smooth, quiet, confident in rain and still has sharp handling. They replaced the OEM craptastic Goodyear Eagle runflats, which were loud, hard as diamonds and super expensive ($425 EACH!). I got the set of AS3's for ~$800 installed.

Couldn't tell you the exact wear though, but definitely two more seasons for sure.

3 was never meant for snow.  3 had superior traction to summer tires in the wet...and was as fast around a track in the dry.  Which is why I used it on the 911.  I'm still gobsmacked by how fast these tires were in the wet.

I read the dry traction has suffered a bit with the 3+?  But haven't driven them, so can't comment first hand...which is why I said it would be a shame.

One of the best tires I've used.
