Yeah, I wish I could've asked the experts...but hey, he read it on the internet, can't be bad, right? (and yes Synchromax...not mesh)

A lot of people use Royal Purple Syncromax (including me).

Did you notice an improvement in the shifting?   Was it hard to change?  Seeing as we'll be DIYing it.

You'll need a hand pump that screws onto the bottle.

Not today, more like a couple weeks ago, but swapped over to the summer tires.  First 2 pics are the winter set.

A bit late but better than never:

Last week saw a grocery list's worth of stuff:

-  Winter to summer tire swap and storage
-  Oil change and spring checkup
-  New muffler
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum.    -    John Nada (played by Roddy Piper) in "They Live"

It's first Oil Change time on the van.  Oil is on sale at Partsource right now.  Good time to do it.

Yesterday I emptied two big garbage bags of trash from the '72 B, and investigated the 'no fuel' issue which turned out (as suspected) to be a dead fuel pump. My dad has a few spares, so he's gunna look for them for me this week, so might might get away with a $0 repair :)

New tires for the Escalade arrived, so I need to arrange to get them installed this week. It also started throwing a "tighten fuel cap" message on the digital screen thingy a couple times last week, and eventually turned on a check engine light. Code came up as P0455 "Large evap leak". I put a new fuel cap on it (the original did look a bit dodgy) and put about 100kms on it and the code (or the message) hasn't returned, so maybe I got lucky. Otherwise it sounds like there is a vent solenoid near the back of the truck that commonly goes bad, it's a $30 part, but a cramped/dirty job to replace.

It is easy to drain/fill. Drain plug is at bottom of tranny and east to find. Fill hole is on upper side.

I used a hand pump but some people just fit the hose straight on the bottle and squeeze like heck. I saw a video where a guy went in through the top from the inside of the car after removing his shift boot.

If you don't want to diy I'm sure a shop will do it for you cheap since it doesn't. take too long.

Thanks!

Today...I washed my kids car. He's back at work on the farm this summer and was working today, and he got a text from one of his U of MB lab partners that they're having a meet up this evening.  "One of the guys is bringing his 458." Yes, that kind of 458.  :o His friend (the lab partner guy) drives a Merc AMG, one of those new 2 doors.  Because I don't shop Mercs I don't know what it is, just that it cost more than all three of my cars put together.  They're getting an Aventador soon.  Wow is my guy out of his league!  Either way, they like cars, and his 5.0 got him in with the Cool Kids. So I had to have it all sparkly for him before he left.  He can tell them his butler washed it.  ;D

From there, I washed me F150, clayed it, tried buffing a scratch out it didn't have 2 weeks ago (FARKING ICEHOLE!!  >:( - pretty sure it must've happened at Home Depot in Wpg), then applied the diamond white stuff and waxed it.  Phew...am I bushed - because in between all that I also finished installing some baseboards, paint stripped some 114 yr old door handles and the plates they're mounted in...and cleaned up all the gravel and crap the town flung in the ditch last winter and filled a massive crater the FNG must've done with the front end loader when he tried clearing a spot for the hydrant...farking icehole... :P...kidding, that's an easy fix...and tilled all the dog poo under a second time since it's good and dry now under the evergreens.  Ever notice dog poop doesn't actually deteriorate?  Just stays where you plant it.  Gotta be soaking in water to turn to something other than a dog poop.

You've got it backwards. The kid is supposed to be washing YOUR car.

Nope...nobody washes my car.  Sonic...meh, maybe. Sure, why not.  Otherwise don't touch it.  I won't even let my wife wash it...or help with it.  Unless it's at the drying stage.  Then maybe.  I cringe at the idea of someone else washing my car.

ditto for the Alfa, wife can wash the Saab as she has put enough small scrapes on it I have lost the will to care [her car anyway]...but the Alfa, no way. Get it professionally detailed if a show or meet is coming up, or else I clean it myself with obsessive care. 20 year old original paint and decals...have to be careful.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Put my rebuild tranny back in the Thing yesterday.  When my rubber engine gasket arrives (seals the engine compartment) and I install it I can put the engine back in.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kickboxing.

Got the new Conti TerrainContacts installed on the 'Slade yesterday. Less tram-lining and better highway ride than the very worn Pirelli Scorpion ATR's. Noise levels seem comparable. Fairly pleased overall.
If it would ever stop raining I'd wash the truck and take a photo....

Drove my s2000 briefly yesterday for only the 3rd time this season.  Next stretch of nice weather I plan on redoing my shed roof and then it's party time!  :skid:

I was going to put in the engine compartment rubber gasket that seals the engine compartment from the underside of the car, but it's a really PITA job, so I wired in my new Fog lights instead.
