Got a call from the repair shop that my Thing's tranny is ready to be shipped back to me. Finding someone competent to work on these old air cooled vehicles is getting harder to do. Special tools and jigs are needed for tranny work, and new parts are hard to come by.
Hopefully, I'll be able to put the tranny back in tomorrow. Unfortunately, I can't put the engine back in until the rubber engine seal that seals the engine so no hot air from underneath the car gets back into the engine compartment arrives.
I knew I needed that seal, but I ordered the wrong part. I need the rear section, but mistakenly ordered the front section.

The engine can't go in until the seal is in place.
Only two businesses in N.A. sell these seals. The $20 price was decent, but shipping will cost me $24 US.

Even though shipping from the US is expensive I'm really glad these two businesses exist, considering the Thing was only sold in North America for 2 years (1973/74) and that was 43 years ago.
