Looks like a beer keg is leaking...guess we know where the new teen hangout's going to be.  ;)  It might not be a Blarney Stone...but if it's beer, teenagers will lick anything*.

*not that I would know...I'm far from ever being a teenager again. Probably too busy licking their phones.

Ordered Bridgestone RE760s for the GTI. Kind of pains me to be buying new tires for a car whose lease ends in eight months.

To replace the OE all-seasons? I think you'll be very happy and wished you'd done it sooner!

I had the RE760s on my GTI and really liked them. Great tire at a great price.

Yeah, replacing the OEs. I had them on my last Mazda 6 and liked them.

Re760s are performance all seasons right?

Cool photo by the way shane

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Tire Rack classifieds them as "Ultra High Performance Summer".

The van came with a factory roof rack and rails.  I set up the rack, and bought 2 used bike trays (the quick release kind).  Put the bike trays up on the roof of the van.  Now we can take bikes with us when we go camping (either I'll have to buy a third tray, or the third bike will have to go inside the van...which isn't too hard to do.

I have been thinking of adding a receiver to the back of my trailer to carry the bikes.  I have the bike carrier already.  But the kids are still young, one is on a tricycle still, and the other is on training wheels, hopefully not for long.

Just don't forget that you have the bikes on the roof of your van...

At Home:

While out on the open road (low overpass interaction)

When pulling into hotel reception areas, maybe ?

Yeah, always be cognizant of the fact that the bikes are on your vehicle's roof  :D

Yeah, I always used a rear mounted carrier when I used to bike a lot.  Partly for that reason, but mostly because it looks like it would be a pita getting them mounted up there.  The only thing I hate about kayaking is lifting the tandem kayak on and off the roof rack. Besides having a roof rack renders the moonroof useless because of excessive wind noise.  :P

Nothing I have to worry about.  Never used a roof rack before.

If I ever got back into mountain biking again, I agree 100%, hitch rack for the win. Getting bikes on the roof of some crappy little subcompact is a PITA, on an SUV, yeah, no thanks.
