Oh I don't order calipers online, I just use a local shop and bring the cores back.  So no mailing would be about $250.

But if you think that's too much that's your prerogative :)

It depends. Sometimes, if I have the time I prefer to rebuild because then I know it's done right. Other times, the new/reman calipers are silly expensive, especially when you get into older/uncommon cars. The rear calipers for my T/A were like $180 each, so yeah, I rebuilt them (stupid ratcheting e-brake thing and all), but front were like $40, so I just threw the remans on it.
Worst part of that job was bleeding the system in the driveway, in a blizzard with my wife pumping the pedal inside the car while yelling about being frozen the whole time.....sorta funny now, definitely wasn't enjoying myself at the time.

Dude...SpeedBleeder bleeder nipples are worth every penny!

I've heard, but I have yet to use them. I do have one of those 1-man vacuum pump deals, it works pretty good too, but when I am in a hurry I usually just default to what I know best...medical line, a glass jar and yelling instructions at Mrs.Firm, lol.

I originally used this pressure device on BMWs up to MY 2000 and many EURO based Fords like a Contour  :-X,  but it fits all Mustangs so I was pleasantly surprised that it fit my 2015.  Have had it for past 30 years.

For a POS, rusted, on its last legs 1998 Subaru Forester winter beater that's not worth $250?

Isn't that your prerogative too? LOL

This ain't no LX, dude!

I use much the same device for bleeding fluid on my 911.   I use a hand pump, just resting my arm on it is enough pressure to bleed it, only a few PSI.    I also have a low pressure regulator I rarely bothered using, who wants to bring more stuff than necessary to the track.

Oil change. Because it was above freezing and I am OCD about the "Service soon!" light that pops upon startup.

Of course, the cap for the oil filter is at my parents' house. But changed the oil anyway, told them to just give it to me in a couple weeks when we meet and I'll change the filter then.

Oil has 27 550km on it, going to send it off for oil analysis to see what condition it is in. To be fair, since its last change I've put in 3 litres to top off everytime it consumes/leaks some. Also took off the underbelly pan to just slightly clean up the mess left over from the ongoing leak- this took an hour because it's 16 (!!) screws.

not so much "to" but "with"

Brought home the almost 8-foot Christmas Tree (from Home Depot)  inside the V60.  So glad to have waited until the folding front passenger seat was available.  Makes this kind a thing a breeze.

Sorry just can't leave this one alone  :)

What's with the "27 500km"  ???   Are you meaning 27,500km as in 27 thousand, five hundred kilometers? ... between OIL CHANGES and you are running the new oil thru an oil filter that has 27,500 km worth of junk in it  ???

That's nightmare material.  :rofl2:

After years of this, I've just gone to changing the oil based on the Condition Based Service monitor. A couple years ago I ran 20k on the oil, the lab oil analysis came back clean, with plenty of mileage to spare. So I trust the computer and the oil quality sensor.

Plus, over 27.500km, I've essentially replaced half the oil thru consumption and some leakage- I've topped it off with 3 litres in total.

I can't get the oil filter cap off without the tool. I guess I could have my parents mail it.....but what difference does it make? I'm not driving the car much between now and 2. January; half the time it will be sitting at the airport car park anyway.

I rescued it from the snow - my corner parking space is a trap for drifts.  Then I kept it out of the way of the various morons during this morning's lemming race...
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

First deep snow expedition with the Escalade. I was worried that the All-Terrain Pirelli Scorpions with about 40-50% tread wear left on them would be a problem in winter conditions and was fully prepared to hit up CT this weekend for a set of Copper AT/W's, but I was pleasantly surprised when the Scorpions barely broke a sweat on this morning's commute. Guess that means I can probably squeeze another year out of them :)

Really, that's your defense  ???   a mythical oil quality sensor and some BS oil analysis ...  :rofl2:

You are without question an engine ASSASSIN.  And on that particular motor you score DOUBLE!
